Since she's back in the public eye lately, how about Charlotte Rae as Madame Morrible???

Charlotte couldn't do the raked stage 8 or even 6 times a week. Maybe Joan Collins, THAT BITCH WHO IS VERY DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH, could play Morrible. :) I love you Charlotte.
I agree with Deanna Jones. She looked slightly frail at 70 Girls 70, and I don't think she could handle a regular run. She might be able to handle a guest star week or two, but the difficulty of 8 shows is a bit too much for someone her age. After all, she is almost 81!

I bet Rae could manage more performances a week than LaChanze or Donna Murphy

I think she'd be great, but, the sad thing with Ms. Rae now is that she can't remember lines and lyrics. Maybe if she can have the lines written down somewhere.
Anyone breathing can handle more performances than them.
Though Murphy, thankfully, is back in the game!
Murphy back in the game? She managed to show up for all her Follies dates (1 weekend!), big woop.

I think someone who is still an incredible performer and could do this role really well is the wonderful Karen Morrow. I don't know why they don't get her.
Karen has better things to do...
Lansbury is 81, Seldes is 78, Mary Louise Wilson is 74, Eva Le Gallienne was doing 8 shows a week at 84... I don't think it's the age so much as the person. If Rae were in good health, then who cares if she's 50 or 150? I've worked with college students who didn't have the stamina to get through 6 performances in one week, let alone 8.
Bea Arthur and Elaine Stritch were both carrying solo Broadway shows at an advanced age.
I think they should bring Toni Lamond over from Sydney. She can handle the schedule and would be fabulous.

Like what Theatrediva? White Christmas? I would love to see Karen in more roles. She is always the best thing in the Actor's Fund and Stages benefits every year.
Betty White!!! how camp would that be?! what's she got on her plate? more 1-800 PETMEDS commercials?

And get sloppy seconds out of this role after her former co-star just got major attention? hell no
it worked with the Designing Women in Millie...
I'd love to see Morrible as a vamp and have Ute Lemper play her. Ute could look more like Malificent from Sleeping Beauty. Now that would be hot.
Cats - they DID that with DESIGNING WOMEN and MILLIE. I wouldn't say it WORKED, exactly...
DanielM,
What CisforCompany said.
I still think Patti Cohenour would be fantastic, but it would be a bad career move on her part.
Alma will/should eventually take over on Broadway. She's by far one of the best Morribles...and when she goes evil...YOWZA.
I'd love to see a vampy Morrible as well...however, if we are going for Malificent let's just wait until Disney makes the musical of it and have Ute do it then.

Theatrediva, I think Cisforcompany was referring to Betty White. I don't know what you're trying to say.
