Hey all,
Just wondering if anybody is going to get the chance to see Chess in Washington? Would love to go, but won't be possible, be great though to hear from anybody who is.

I'm seeing it on the 19th!
Question: I've never seen or even listened to Chess before, only know the basic plot, and I know they're going to be making some changes with this production. Should I listen to some earlier recordings or should I just go in blind?

That's a very good question. It might be good to go blind and see how you get on with the 'story' this version tells - i.e. only know exactly what they tell/show you on stage. The history of Chess plots is so complicated, it can become very confusing. Afterwards you could go back and look at the past versions etc and see how they compare.

I recently spoke with someone working on this production, who told me that it will be transferring to Broadway (and this individual will be coming to Broadway with the show). Has anyone else heard this?

The person who told me of the transfer is not flaky, but it just seems odd that there's been no mention of it in the media.

Check your tickets. IT only runs 2/14 - 2/18. I hope you just had a typo. It would suck if you missed it.

I'll be there on the 15th, and the West Side Story concert on the 16th.

Yep, makes sense to me. They started posting rehearsal teasers on social media yesterday, including a video of the principals performing "The Deal (No Deal)" around a piano. I liked this group of voices much better than the "Chess in Concert" group:

I'm looking for a single ticket for Friday night if anyone has one they aren't using, PM me. It's currently sold out.

What's happened to Raoul?
I doubt a Broadway transfer is on anyone's contract. Too many of this cast have other obligations, and this isn't even a production, just a concert.

Is she still attached to Moulin Rouge? I thought they haven't announced the stage production's cast yet and she was only part of the labs (at least unless further info is revealed). Between those 2, if she really wants to come back to Broadway, I'd most definitely go with MR simply because of the team and source material leading itself to a potentially better show

For the love of all the that's holy...LET IT BE RAUL...he's WAY overdue for a Broadway return. You obviously don't have to say here, I'm just expressing my need for him to come back to the Broad-of-Way.
Curtainpulldowner (great name btw)-I understand what you mean, but that leaves only Raul left in terms of leads who that could possibly refer to because yes all three of the others have previous things they've committed to. I've heard in passing somewhere (I don't remember where) that he'll be done with SVU after this season, BUT I truly have no idea how valid this is. If it is, ok, someone get him back on stage, stat. If not, he very possibly could do both, considering he's not in every single episode anyway. I'm just thinking out loud at the moment.

Right now it’s only running from June to September.

From the current previews of SVU it looks like Raoul is going in the clink.
I've heard TV puts a few pounds on an Actor, Raoul 's been on TV too long.

Ruthie Ann Miles is also expecting her second child as well, IIRC.

Sorry, it wasn't Raul Esparza whom I spoke with; it was someone in the ensemble.
