I was delighted to finally see Christina playing the role of Eva Peron in the musical "Evita" tonight.
She is a force of nature, her voice is wonderful, she hits all the notes, her dancing is effortless, her acting was splendind and she looked terrific.
If she had been the actual full time "Eva", I'm pretty sure she would have received a Tony nomination and maybe even the award.
Elena Roger ruined the show for me, she couldn't hit the notes, I could barely understand her, her acting and dancing skills were very poor. I felt personally ashamed when Rachel Potter sang her number, and outsang Roger x100.
I truly recommend anyone who didn't get to see Christina in this show, to re-visit this great musical.

Posted: 9/20/12 at 10:43amI saw Evita a month ago and was very impressed by Christina DeCicco. I really thought she embodied the character and I loved her voice. I can't compare her to Elena since I haven't seen Elena's performance but I probably won't go back since the production was lackluster.

Posted: 9/20/12 at 10:59amI got to see Elena in London (and I understand performances change) and wouldn't have ever used the word "poor" to describe her acting. I thought she was utterly fantastic in every sense though I understand why someone would not be overlly impressed with her voice.

Posted: 9/20/12 at 11:58amElena is a gorgeous actor and dancer. Her singing is not up to par for this show, but she rocked the acting of the show. I was underwhelmed by everyone else, but Elena plays Eva with a very direct and truthful approach. That's all I got.

Christina was fantastic in the show, she (along with Max von Essen who I saw as Che) made the production enjoyable. I really hope Christina get "principle" lead after this.
As for Elena, I also saw her. Her acting was sensational, she had so many layers- her performance just got so lost in her struggle to sing.

Posted: 12/28/12 at 6:21pmI agree. I saw CDC as. Evita and what a great set of pipes. Can't understand how they can take this show to Broadway with someone who lacks basic singing skills. why, because she's from Argentina? Who the F cares? Its like doing the sound of music with britney. Rachel Potter was awesome as well.

I agree that she felt like a kid playing dress up. Truly underwhelming. Well-sung, but it amazes me how many people will take screaming Elphaba vocals and interpret them as a brilliant performance.
Yawn.

Posted: 12/28/12 at 11:13pmI saw Elena at a Wednesday matinee and the audience just wasn't feeling it, so that could be why she was lacking, but she just didn't do it for me. I found her interesting to watch and she commanded the stage, but the big musical moments just fell flat, and in a musical, that's kind of awful.

I am sure that Christina does a wonderful Eva, I agree with Young Brother, Elena is the best Eva I have ever seen - sure she doesn't have the belt that the beloved Patti does, or for the odd one or two other Eva's that have performed the role, e.g. Marti Webb, Stephanie Lawrence, Loni Ackerman, et al, that was a different production back then, what Elena brought to the role was some ORIGINALITY - I was fortunate enough to see her in London mid June 2006 before she went on holidays, I can still remember each wink, each smile, each gesticulation.
Every other Eva before Elena has been a carbon copy of Elaine/Patti - I'm more than disgusted at the vitriol directed at Elena's performance of Eva.
I'm sad that I won't get to see Elena's, and Christine's interpretation as Eva on Broadway when I visit NY again in March.
