Just saw AVENUE Q in August....

I thought Carey Anderson was absolutely fantastic. She's soo f*cking cute too!

I wish her all the best. Maybe the producers will realize they've screwed up bad. Romano sucks!!!

Wasn't a fan of her in BATB, but I'm sure she'll be wonderful in this.

I just hope its not a HUGE publicity thing and there are signs saying "Avenue Q, now with Christy Carlson Romano!"

I saw Carey at Julie Reiber's Creative Seeds benefit and I fell in love with her. She is freaking cute and just plain adorable. She blew me away with her voice. Too bad I won't get to see her in Avenue Q now .

God, I hope not, because stuff like that is usually soon followed by closing notices...

...about this choice: interesting, especially considering how I grew up with Even Stevens. After all the Disney stuff she did, it'll sure be odd seeing her play a slut and groaning and moaning like she's in a porno. Whatever, I'm just shocked that Q is actually attempting stunt casting. Just not exactly the show I thought I'd ever see it in...

I love this choice. She was an awesome Mary Phagan and a decent Belle and Cinderella.

See, I am not sure if I would consider this stunt casting. When she was in Beauty and the Beast Even Stevens was either still on the air or it wasn't that long since it aired so people knew who she was. And, she was still associated with Disney because of the TV show. And the ads were saying Christy Carlson Romano star of Even Stevens as Bell in Beauty and the Beast.

But, now I am not sure that there are as many people out there who would know who she is based on name alone. It is true that that the fan base is much older. But still. I am not sure I would consider this stunt casting because people might remember the show but they might not remember her. I am under the impression that she wants to do more theatre. So the way I see it is this. That I see her as someone who has done TV who now wants to do more theatre.

But, I am glad that they are keeping Anderson. It would suck if they ditched a good thing to bring in Romano.

Oh dear. I saw her quite a few times in Beauty, and boy it was anything but. She can't act her way out of a wet paper bag, and her voice was a whole other story. Tues would be decent, but by the 8th show she would open her mouth and sound just wouldn't come out some times. HORRIBLE!

If she can't get us to laugh with a camera in her face, how is she ever going to get an audience to laugh? Again.. oh dear...

I don't mind her voice. I have only heard her sing in clips of songs that she did for Disney. Considering that it was the typical Disney pop song style that she was singing I am willing to bet that I didn't hear what she could do musical theatre wise.


I find it interesting though not surprising that when she was in Beauty and the Beast that the posters etc said "see Even Steven's star in Beauty and the Beast." I am not sure if I would consider that stunt casting or not because at that time she was a Disney actress in a Disney show.

If Even Stevens was still on the air and she was filming it and she went and did Avenue Q then that might be considered stunt casting. But, considering that her TV show has been off the air for five years I don't think it counts as that.

Maybe I caught her on a good night but I thought she was fine in BATB. Not a powerhouse voice - obviously - but competent and she was quite charming in the role. I didn't understand all the negativity at the time.

Winston: Don't judge her until you've heard her in BatB. Yikes.

She's decent in Parade, but like I said, something bad happened to her voice later. Terrible wobble, and she has a very limited range (though in Kim Possible I heard her sing a C6 and it wasn't bad, so maybe it's just a passagio issue).
