if that's the 2000 poster, I think this new one is infinitely better, imo.
I really like the artwork!! I can't wait to see the playbill design
The "X is sooo Y" gag is sooooo last year.

That's the one cats. I guess it's also the memories of such a flawless production that makes the poster so great.

I just remember the lights coming down and out of nowhere appeared Eartha Kitt, the rest was all magic, let's not forget Lippa's orchestrations I loved what he did to A Lovely Night. Sadly the tour is available for License but the RNH Library doesn't rent out Lippa's arrangements or the new orchestrations that were written they instead converted the back to the original. Which is such a shame. So I'm very interested to see which route this production is taking with the orchestrations and arrangements?

My guess is that they will have a new set of arrangements and orchestrations.
That is a bit disappointing that you can license the Tom Briggs script but not the Lippa arrangements. He really did great work on that. I loved listening to them night after night. Even with the Sinfonium and not a full orchestra they were really lovely, especially the opening with the Fairy Godmother appearing in the moon to narrate the beginning of the story.
^Yes! The prologue music was so brilliant! I loved the moon reveal and Eartha's delivery was so chilling. Tom Briggs's book adaptation was my favorite as well - especially the prologue.
I had no idea that R&H doesn't license the Andrew Lippa orchestrations. That's a major bummer, but the book that they're licensing is not exactly the tour version either. It's the later revised version that played at the Paper Mill Playhouse and included "Boys and Girls Like You and Me" and "Loneliness of Evening." It's a real shame because the tour version, in my opinion, was utterly perfect and it would be nice if regional companies could perform it.

Agreed on that CATS, the tour version is perfect for high schools, especially because it is pretty short, so even a bad production ends quickly and the parents who have to suffer through it don't have to suffer for long (it's been a long time, but as I recall it ran barely over 2 hours including intermission).
After seeing the poster for the revival, I thought that they were announcing an animated movie musical based on the show. Kind of like what happened with The King and I.
At first glance I thought the glass slipper had a big crack in it. Then I realized it was her silhouette determining the jagged shape. I'm not crazy about a concept that "cracks" the shoe. I would like it better if I could see her reflection in it perhaps.
And the tagline is juvenile and shallow.
I think the artwork is beautiful, but that slogan has got to GO.

I will have to say the poster does look like if Disney had produced it as an animated film in the 90s. And I'm sure it would've been very close to what ended up being the Brandy television production.
