Posted: 5/3/14 at 6:27pmSo, Cinderella is sill going strong (or strong enough) at the box office, but I think that CRJ and Fran have contracts that expire on June 8. Has anyone heard of possible replacements? Isn't it getting to be a pretty short time to put in new cast members and have them ready to go on June 10? Assuming that CRJ and Fran don't extend (and maybe they will, who knows?), will they just keep going for a while with understudies?

Posted: 5/3/14 at 10:46pmThere's more than enough time... I've heard of put-in rehearsals for replacements starting just a few days before their debuts.

Replacements rehearse before the put in. The put in is one of the last things to happen before they hit the stage. 2 weeks seems to be about the norm for rehearsal as a replacement. I do not know howevver if that is actually standard.
They will not announce until all contracts have been signed.

Posted: 5/3/14 at 11:05pmThanks for the clarification- what I meant to say was that the entire rehearsal period can be just a few days, but yes, I'd say two weeks is the norm.

Posted: 5/4/14 at 3:34amI for one would really like a new cast- especially in Carly's case, because I found her to not be right for Broadway (She's a good singer, but dose not have the vocal power for a theatre), I LOVED Fran, but did not find the least bit Wicked. I really miss Laura and Harriet.

Posted: 5/4/14 at 9:25amWasn't there a rumor about Laura taking a hiatus from the show? Maybe when she's finished with 3 Penny she'll return?

Posted: 5/4/14 at 9:27amTHAT would be wonderful- I would really love to see the show with Laura and Fran (If she were to extend)

It sounded like on the last vlog she did that she's done with Cinderella for good. Plus, if she is going to return, they would put a notice like they did to Victoria Clarke's hiatus.
And she better not return now because I just bought tickets with Carly Rae, and that would suck so much to miss Laura AGAIN and this time, for a pop star.

Posted: 5/4/14 at 5:47pmI highly doubt Laura would return. Firstly, her last Vlog implied she was done for good. Also, she has some concerts lined up this summer. She's going to Spain, Colorado and LA for sure; the last with Victoria Clark and Santino Fontana as well.

Posted: 5/4/14 at 8:12pmI hope Laura never returns...I can't stand her voice or her acting.

Funny, I can't WAIT for Laura to come back to Broadway----LOVE LOVE LOVE her voice and acting.
She deserves every accolade ever given to her; she is a gem and has THE best voice going on Broadway or off.
Just my opinion, of course

Posted: 5/5/14 at 4:12pmI wonder who is drawing more people in: Fran or Carly. personally I think Fran, as she is most certainly someone who more people know. Also, the times I have seen it with the new cast, Fran always got a big audience reaction on her entrance while Carly did not.

Posted: 5/5/14 at 4:57pmAccording to a source connected to the show, they have already approached new replacements that are about on the same level as Carly Rae and Fran.
#15Cinderella post June 8
Posted: 5/5/14 at 5:58pmAnd I've heard from a similar source that none of the people they approached worked out.

I just hope they picked the proper pop star. We're just lucky that CRJ at least had some musical theatre training and nice voice.
I think Jane Lynch would be a fantastic Stepmother! Too bad she's filming Glee (Right?)

Posted: 5/6/14 at 3:38pmThe last Cinderella replacement I knew they were talking to has got theatre experience. It's not much, but she'll know what she's doing.

Posted: 5/6/14 at 3:41pmI hope Ariana Grande is at least in consideration, as highly unlikely as it may be (she has a new album coming out in August/September), I'd still love to see her in this.

The last Cinderella replacement I knew they were talking to has got theatre experience. It's not much, but she'll know what she's doing.
So, they have cast the role of Cinderella, but they will not announce her yet?

Posted: 5/6/14 at 7:56pmAnna Kendrick is too big a star to be the second replacement. Goodbye.
