Honestly, Tracy Miller. She isn't well known at all, but I have never met anyone sweeter and kinder at a stagedoor. I don't really know personally if she has class, but it sure seems like it.

How are you defining "classy"? Sometimes, I think people confuse sophistication with classiness. Do they have to dress well? Be slim and well-groomed?

I personally think class should be defined by how you treat people and how you conduct yourself onstage and with your peers, rather than how you look. Your offstage behavior counts too. Notable philanthropic efforts are a definite plus. Stage presence should play a roll, but saying someone is classy to me goes beyond just dressing well and owning the stage when you're on it. Being beautiful isnt a requirement at all to me. Seemingly warm accessibilty matters more than those who are cool and aloof.

But much of this is based on heresay and public perception. From many well documented reports, Babs is very hard to deal with and narcissistic. So was Ethel Merman. Based on these reports, I wouldnt say either is classy. On the other hand, I havent heard anything but good things about Angela Lansbury..she projects class to me. Broadway performers who miss a lot of shows show very little class to me, whereas someone like Audra McDonald, Sutton Foster and Linda Eder are IMO, the epitome of class.

Peter - My list is of women who I have had experiences meeting, watching them onstage, or seeing them display their talent on award show, and showing class through interviews. All those ladies have shown to me they are truely classy.

Ok, well if we're talking about how one treats people than I guess you can already figure out who I'm about to list. Yep yep, my girl Steph.

I'm sure I've already said this but...
the first time I saw her win the lotto I approached her and she immediately took off her sunglasses. When you live in a superficial (sorry it's true) town like L.A. where people wear their sunglasses at night and are too cool to look you in the face that gesture meant a lot to me. And I thought at first I was overanalyzing but my friend who was with me brought it up to me the next day without having discussed it so it made an impression on her too.

There was another time she she was hugging this lady and got her earring stuck on her sweater/shawl (I forget what it was exactly) and the way she handled that was pretty classy too.

I could go on and on, but you get the point... :)

Victoria Clark is a very polite woman. She had some friends visit her backstage after the show. We all waited for her to come out. We, of course, rushed her once she came out. Instead of freaking out, she calmly asked us to wait until she said goodbye to her friends. So classy. So polite. A woman like that commands respect without demanding it. Such a wonderful performer and person.

And although she's not on Broadway at the moment, Marin Mazzie is definitely a classy woman.

I have to agree with those who said Victoria Clark and Kelli O'Hara. Both were very lovely and gracious at the stage door and seemed genuinely interested in what people had to say regarding the musical and their performances. I also want to add Sarah Uriarte Berry to the list as she was as sweet as possible to the fans.

It's been said before, but obviously needs repeating. Just because a performer is nice at the stage door, does not make them a nice, good, nor classy person anywhere else but there - remember that being nice to fans is good business. I'm not saying that some of them aren't generally wonderful people - I'm just saying that is not an accurate measure. Until you KNOW these people - spend normal, daily life kind of time with them - you can't judge them as a person.

Rath - Now I haven't worked with everyone in the business and their mother, like you might've. But I don't think you need to be best friends with a performer to know they're classy.

I mean all the women I listed - It's hard to see them as anything but class acts. They have such a way about them, and they seem so gracious.

Now, I know I'm just a crazy teen from the stagedoors - So I'm not able to distinguish if someone is a gracious and a kind person. I just honestly don't think you have to be best friends with a woman like Victoria Clark to be able to tell she is a gracious and lovely woman.

But I give up, it's 2:10 am, and utterly useless to try to prove a point that I'm not able to get across.

Goodnight.
