I don't think they really need a star for the film. They could do like the marketing for the show and play up the whole "the timeless songs you know" aspect, along with Eastwood's name. But that's just me.

Wow great casting with Christopher Walken! Now I'm very interested in who's going to play Bob Crewe. My top choices would be Neil Patrick Harris or Sean Hayes but I think they're both busy with TV. Any thoughts?

More casting has been announced.

"Deadline.com reports that Johnny Cannizzaro and Mike Doyle are the latest to join the cast of Clint Eastwood's upcoming big screen adaptation of Jersey Boys. Cannizzaro will play "Nick DeVito" -- twin brother of Tommy DeVito and founding member of The Variety Trio -- with Doyle taking on the role of music producer "Bob Crewe"."

I think mike Doyle kinda came out of nowhere but it seems like a decent choice. I really really like this casting. I think they've dont a good job on that now we just need to see how they actually make the movie.

I was sold at John Lloyd Young. I hated Les Mis because they hired Hollywood actors to sing. If you are going to film a musical, cast actors that can sing!!!

I guess it is all speculation. I wonder if it will filmed similar to Les Mis as a true musical or as a regular movie format. Both will be fine by me, as long as there is great singing.

^ What do you mean it isn't just them singing on stage? I don't think they have actors singing offstage. Except maybe when the actual Four Seasons aren't singing. I think if they do it Les Mis style that would be great. Love to see them sing live. Makes the story a lot more real.

Mike Barrett in the stage version, the ensemble fills out the sound of the Four Seasons from offstage at certain points in the show. The actor in the 'Joey' track (who usually also understudies Frankie) doubles Frankie's voice from offstage at certain times, as was done on original Four Seasons' recordings.
