It was brought up in an extremely matter of fact way, to counterbalance the same way we absorb straight dating news. "Jenn Colella is dating a married couple and a woman on the side" and "Jenn Colella is out, polyamorous, and Tony nominated" are extremely nonchalant. SHE spent a lot of the interview willingly talking about this--that's what she's like--so why should it be covered up or played down? If it was a thread saying, "Rebecca Luker on her marriage to Danny Burstein," no one would object or think it was screaming! This reminds me of many years ago, when Harvey Fierstein thanked his lover on the Tonys. Columnist Liz Smith wrote that it was in bad taste!!! But she had never had a problem with the THOUSANDS of straight people thanking their partners on awards ceremonies.

Wow, this is really hitting me. I just sent it to my partner, the two of us are poly and there are very few role models of that kind of relationship. 

For all those who are saying "why does this matter", the answer is because it is making young people in uncommon and marginalized relationships feel a little less alone

There were so many years when no one came out and the media never talked about LGBT celebrities. Now that the celebs come out and talk about it, the media is accused of sensationalism for reporting it.

Same here.

I'm glad Jenn is having much-deserved success and using her spotlight to talk about her queer identity. Because- apparently even in 2017 on a Broadway message board, of all places- there is much work to be done.

bloomeritic, why is the way this was brought up suggestive of anything crazy or untoward in way of gossip?
I didn't read Chanel's original or later posts that way at all.  And am not sure why anyone would.

The thread was not sensationalizing, it was simply stating, matter of factly, her personal life, the way the media does about straight celebrities. The interview is extremely matter of fact. Nothing "Can you believe this?" or "OMG!" about it. It's a very positive presentation of a woman who is full of love. Jenn is open and is pitched to LGBT sites as an out actor. It's definitely interesting that she's dating a male/female couple and a woman, but it was not handled in a sensational manner. And if you ever read something like, "Laura Benanti talks about her new husband," I hope those who were offended by this will express similar outrage at how sensational and unnecessary it is!!!

The thread's subject line is literally the title of the piece Musto wrote. Dinging the original poster for that since it is literally the title of the article seems a little misplaced.

That's cool. That's what we need to see. That's how the article should have been posted. That's all I've been saying. That's a lot of that's.

1. See now...the whole thread has a different title now. So all of this is moot. But it kept coming up as the original title: "Jenn Colella is dating a married couple and a woman on the side" which to me--is still gossipy and not true to her situation. 

2. Thanks, Henry. Had no idea, wow. Trolling level: 100. 

3. Edited to say that I deleted my comments, they weren't being taken the way they were meant to be taken...so I quit the struggle. It's okay. Thanks to those who were seeing where I was coming from, it's cool. Just didn't want to be taken wrongly.

I mean, Jenn throws around those "labels" loosely (she calls LaChanze her wife, etc.) so it's kind of hard to tell, but if it's true, doesn't Chilina have a son with that guy Jacob?

I'm not going to be an uninformed speculator...all I'll say is that these things can be hella confusing!
