Ok...this is another one of those annoying audition posts. Sorry all, but at least this one's a little bit specialized.
For an upcoming audition I need to track down material suitable to a vaudville comic in 1923. Any suggestions?
You should ask AfterEight. He used to sing these to his grandchildren back then.
Eddie Cantor's "Makin' Whoopee" comes to mind, even though is from the late 20s.

"And Her Mother Came, Too", composer Ivor Novello (British), 1921
"You'd Be Surprised" by Irving Berlin, 1919. Although a lot of notable women have performed it (including a delicious performance by Madeline Kahn), it was initially performed by men. It's bawdy and fun.
Look at the soundtrack to Boardwalk Empire for a great selection of vaudeville tunes and novelty numbers from the period.

What about George Gershwin's Vodka, that's from the late 20's, no?
Try "Masculine Women! Feminine Men!"
