I hate it when people say (with particular reference to Idina Menzel)...
'she's untrained, (they've) had vocal lessons. So that's why they are so much better'
As far as I'm concerned, more fool her.
I would say that whatever Idina Menzel has done so far has worked out pretty well for her. She should keep doing it.
I hate when people say all Patti LuPone does is play herself. yes, I think she often plays strong characters, and no, I don't think I'll ever see her in a role like Margaret Johnson (for example), but I don't think that means all she does it play herself.
I also get frustrated when people comment that Allison Janney can't sing (in 9 to 5). I don't think she got the part because people were expecting her to have a beautiful singing voice.
Most Patti LuPone comments.
Karen Olivo is unprofessional.
I hate people who think Audra McDonald's voice is to "classical" for theatre. I love it!
On the same note, I hate how so many people complain about anyone who doesn't have absolutely perfect pitch 100% of the time. Musical theater isn't about singing in perfect pitch, it's about conveying meaning and emotion through song. Often times, perfect pitch is NOT the way to appropriately do that.
^ pun intended?
Everything said about Karen Olivo.
There are certain actors who can do no wrong according to most people on here. But for some reason Karen Olivo is always looked at as unprofessional, untalented, doesn't take care of herself, can't dance, and the only reason people think she is good is because everyone else sucks.

"As far as I'm concerned, more fool her."
That comment has annoyed and perplexed me as much as any.
^ I agree with you, DrunkChita. But it's only a small group of people who make those comments. She does have a lot of fans on here.

givesmevoice, pun actually not intended! Haha!
Whenever someone criticizes Jennifer DiNoia based on her looks (something I truly don't understand)... I still fail to see how she looks like a praying mantis.
I love Olivo!
I'm frustrated when people say that Carol Channing is a good Broadway performer.
By the same token, that Babs was too old to be Dolly in the film/she wasn't good.
It pisses me off whenever I read anyone defending LuPones ridiculous behavior on or off stage. Seriously, "Who do you think YOU are", LuPone?
Amen Drunk Chita and ljay regarding the comments about Karen Olivo.
Any mean, false comments about Laura Benanti for missing a performance.
That Annaleigh Ashford can't act and was a horrible Glinda.
And what givesmevoice said about Patti LuPone. Very well said! She does NOT play herself in everything. She is a phenomenal performer.
All the praise for Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal. Their fans act like they're the second coming or something. Jeez, they're not THAT great.
I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY:
- ...Raul Esparza and/or Mandy Patinkin use too much vibrato.
- ... Daphne Rubin-Vega can't sing.
- ... Lea Michele can't act.
- ... Phoebe Strole can't sing.
- .... (specific to some Patti Lupone fans) Angela Lansbury sounds bad as Mrs. Lovett.

I hate it when people complain about Raul Esparza's vibrato.
I hate it when people say that Idina was the best Elphaba simply because she was the original. Actually any debate over is the best Elphaba and Glinda is annoying. They never end. No one is the "best" and there's no way to determine who was the "best," it's all a matter of opinion.
My major beef is this: Obviously they are talented enough to make it on broadway, so to say someone isn't talented or "Sucks" is just plain rude.
Also, Anyone who says anything bad about broadway legends (example:Angela Lansbury, ect) need to be deleted from the website.
Gobstopper I think it isn't that people actually think Patti is better. At least for me, I prefer Patti but its only a matter of taste. I adore both interpretations of the role. For a while, I did think that Patti sang it better but then I started exploring the original more and realized it wasn't better just a very different interpretation that I did enjoy more.

I agree about Jen DiNoia looking like an alien or a praying mantis. She is gorgeous and I don't see at all where that is coming from.
Also people saying that Dee Roscoili can't act and is boring.
