Hahah oh, I know, I didn't mean to sound defensive. But lots of red lighting, solo Billy tapping with rioters and then riot police, lots of "Uh!" noises... definitely the Angry Dance. I didn't notice if they were in the opening number, because they weren't featured, and there were thousands of people up there, but maybe the ballet girls are part of the "Let the Sunshine In"?
Maybe Rob was confused because there are little snippets of Solidarity mixed in with the Angry Dance? I'm not blind, and I've seen the show, so I know what I saw.
lol I'm having almost the exact same convo irl right now- was also at the rehearsal, have also seen Billy, will also vouch for the fact that they rehearsed a one Billy Angry Dance earlier today.
"You Don't Know/I Am the One" actually worked really well. My roommate, who's more of a casual Broadway person, wants to go see Next to Normal because of their performance.
What happened to 9 to 5 performing in the opening?
they're there, performing with Dolly.

This was just posted:
TheTonyAwards: A lone @BillyElliot chair on the platform out in the audience. Wonder what it means?? Artsy pic for a BBerry, no? http://mypict.me/2WdL
I think there are some things are being performed that were not at this rehearsal.
Maybe there are things being performed that didn't happen at rehearsal, but that chair is fresh out of the opening number- one Billy on that platform, two on stage with Elton & piano, all three with chairs...

oh, ok. Are they doing Electricity? That chair and that spotlight looks like Swan Lake.
Elton sings a bit of Electricity (or, at the rehearsal, his stand-in did), but the boys do the spinning chair bit, then Trent (who was on the platform) runs off and backstage, Kiril and David do some tumbling, then three adult Billys come out, and Trent as well up on the wire to do a quick flying bit. The music is just Electricity, though, I believe.
9 to 5 is in the opener, singing the title song with Dolly. Aside from the ones I mentioned, there's also Shrek doing "Freak Flag" with Sutton and Brian singing solo lines to include them, and Rock of Ages and Poison doing... whatever the Poison song in the show is, I forget.
So I've read that Brian is onstage during "What's Up, Duloc?". Is that true?
If it is- why the hell didn't they do "Who I'd Be"?!
If Brian is going to me on stage then I assume Shrek is performing early on in the night. He is probably going to come straight from the show in costume.
Sounds liek thr billy opening is going for something along the lines of this london video

Concerning Billy Elliot's performance, did they use a set at all? If not, what did the number look like without the house and didn't traps?
