I definitely agree that Sweeney Todd must lead the list of best thrillers. Just that whistle alone sends shivers down my spine. I got to sit a few feet away from Norm Lewis as Sweeney and I was unnerved. I literally had to look away.
The Beauty Queen of Leenane was quite dark and not really a thriller but I kept thinking about it long afterwards.
One of my favorite diabolical characters is Mr. Lockhart (memorably played by Ciaran Hinds) in McPherson’s The Seafarer. I just loved this play so much. It was perfect at the Booth.
I had high hopes for Wait Until Dark since I loved the movie but Tarantino was not creepy enough.
McDonagh’s Hangmen was thrilling at the Atlantic and I am sorry we are not going to get to see it on Broadway in 2022.
Amy Herzog’s Belleville which played at the NYTW was scary and disturbing as it explored paranoia and intimacy in a new marriage.

I thought Hangmen was coming back after all, is that not the case anymore?

This was a rumor/speculation based on the fact that they were one of the shows that received a government grant. The other show mentioned in that same news source was West Side Story, which has now announced that it won't return. So suffice it to say, the grant was not a surefire indication that a show would be able to return.
That said, the news of the grant is not nothing, and I do hope that it eventually leads to a return of Hangmen on Broadway (preferably with Dan Stevens still involved, for my own sake). But it was never confirmed, and I don't even think the producers released any kind of statement suggesting they hoped to return. I'm not holding my breath for it, and I wouldn't recommend anyone to do so either.
The London production of Let The Right One In was magnificent. Scary brilliantly done.

Loved that play!

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN at St. Ann’s was so cool. Sad it didn’t get more of a life, but it was so well done and creepy. Well designed and directed.
I liked Doyle’s Sweeney. I thought it was super creep - although as a first time I was very confused by the story (same with Color Purple)
More a twisted, manipulative suspense play than a thriller, but you should check out NOIR (Of course I'm biased as it's my show)

Did anyone see that production of the Exorcist from the UK? I think the property has potential but nobody can crack it (the popularity of the film doesn’t help either).
As a huge horror fan, I’d love to see more on stage. I’ve been craving a slasher film adaptation on stage. Will it work, not sure! But I think with the proper creative team it could be thrilling.

I saw it. It was neither scary nor funny, but had a couple of cool special effects, Maybe if the acting wasn't so over the top, it would've worked better.
I felt like The Exorcist started strong and then just collapsed. I agree the performances felt so pushed, it was awkward. Really liked the set and some of the effects, but the narrative just fell flat on stage, you just didn't care.

Accomplice would be challenging, considering the stunt casting needs, but I'd be interested.
