What is the deal with him showing up all over New York at every opening! I am sick and tired of seeing him in the photos of every opening. Anyone else feel that way?

Posted: 5/1/06 at 4:41pmI didn't realize that certain people should and shouldn't be at openings when invited. I guess you could always not click on opening night photos if you were so worried about being sick and tired.

Posted: 5/1/06 at 4:59pmThats fine, I just find it hilarious that some second rate Idol hack is doing everything he can to keep his face in the limelight. Yeah good PR I guess. Why dont we get some Star Search winners up there in opening night photos as well. Geez, Constantine, like it or not, is not a star and will disappear in no time.

Posted: 5/1/06 at 5:01pmI wouldn't call showing up at a few Broadway premieres doing anything you can to stay in the hollywood limelight.

Craig: It's not about not showing up where invited. There's no need to get all righteous, that's not what the issue is. And I use the word "issue" very loosely.
One must admit, however, that when a "celebrity" (in any form of the word) starts appearing at virtually every Broadway opening, there will be some sort of speculation about why that individual is at so many Broadway events, especially when their ties to theatre are slim to none to begin with.
And I don't think it's that Constantine is trying to get his face out there as much as possible - if that were the case, he would be all over movie premiers, not Broadway opening nights, espcially since the majority of America has absolutely no interest in theatre, let alone Broadway opening night pictures.
It has crossed my mind - starting with the RENT concert, why is this man at every Broadway opening? Is it just that he loves theatre and happens to be in town, or is it that he's planning on coming to Broadway at some point?
Speculation on this is totally fair, whether you like him or not.

Posted: 5/1/06 at 5:06pmFirescape, be honest here. How much attention (other than on this website) does anyone really get for showing up at a Broadway show? Maybe he actually likes Broadways shows--wouldn't that be disgusting?

He did go to the Boston Conservatory where he studied Musical Theatre performance.

Posted: 5/1/06 at 5:19pmHe was in the tour of Rent so he was a part of Rent 10- he probably decided to go to some openings since he's in town anyway- I don't blame him, I'd go too if I had the chance.
#15re: Constantine
Posted: 5/1/06 at 5:19pmConstantine was also in the National Tour of Rent as Roger.
#16re: Constantine
Posted: 5/1/06 at 5:25pmI know he played Roger, that's why I said his connections to Broadway were "slim."

Posted: 5/1/06 at 5:26pmThank you Munk. You actually got my intention behind all of this! Very good. Also, I think it would be absurd to gain attention this way. That is why I was speculating. It is true that my original thought was tha tit was odd that we were seeing him all of a sudden. I dont get it. I think something is going on.

Posted: 5/1/06 at 6:26pmI didn't realize attending a few openings equaled "virtually every Broadway opening". He was in town for the RENT anniversary and it happened to be at a time when a few shows were opening. He went to school for theater and has done theater, so why is it so strange for him to be at some openings that were taking place while he was in town?

Posted: 5/1/06 at 6:31pmFirescape, I was thinking the same thing. He's been in every opening night photo round up since the Rent 10 show.
#20re: Constantine
Posted: 5/1/06 at 6:35pmI don't think there's anything to it. He was in town for Rent 10, then hit a couple of other openings because he was in town and could. I'm not bothered by his presence so much as I am by the obnoxious face he makes, you know the one where he pulls his glasses down a little and pouts his lips at the camera.

Munk-
It's not a question of being righteous. It's was my response to the tone of the original post. If seeing someone's photo in (what is it) 3 photo coverages makes someone "sick and tired" - well, that just strikes me as unfortunate.

Posted: 5/2/06 at 10:21amWhat about Mario Cantone!?!? He's everywhere!! Although he's not trying to make love to the camera like Constantine.

Mario is funny, Constantine is just obnoxious.......the way he purses his lips for every photo-op.......again, as I always say he needs to be smacked.
If he just looked natural during pix, it would not bother me......but in every pix he looks like Zoolander........ridiculous
