Ditto, I've never liked her before, but her "I said TURN IT OFF" freaks me out, it's so good.
And while I LOVE Marilyn Caskey, Alison Fraser's, "and this is Miss ELECTRA" had me dying last night.
Alison was on FIRE last night...I love that she switches up the line readings...she's a very good actress. The stare down with Patti was great!
I think they asked Marilyn to tone it down, she stole the number the first time I saw it. Another spot that was tighter and better paced.
"I'm electrifyin', and I aint even tryin'!"
The cast has almost certainly gotten notes. I've noticed Sami Gayle has toned down her performance quite a bit, for the better.
Also, I liked that "You'll Never Get Away From Me" and "Together Wherever We Go" change dramatically from performance to performance, depending on whatever Ms. LuPone is in the mood to do. Boyd Gaines slapping her um, butt, last night was priceless.
it's a great "You'll Never...."
Like Tyne Daly and Jonathan Hadary, the chemistry is palpable, and it's so genuine.

GYPSY operates on a convention of the show being performed on a stage (the constant references to the conductor in the "pit" for example).
The device of the characters changing the title cards takes this even further. If Rose is changing a title card, then she is, quite literally, on a stage. Just as an actor sneezing or dropping a prop is a real event which should be incorporated into the action onstage, so too should a stray playbill.
How very perfectly "Madame Rose" to kick the thing off into the audience!
Hilarious.
Oh my GOD, I can't wait to see this again.

the PLAYBILL woman is lucky she got off so easily...ya now Patti carries a blade!

Not sure about this particular incident, but I do agree with the remark that Patti could go on a killing spree and people would probably worship her for it.
Kicking a playbill and going on a killing spree are two ENTIRELY different things. People are so dramatic here... I love it.
What is so horrible about kicking a damn Playbill off the stage? She didn't hit the woman on purpose (and I'm sure it didn't hit her hard) and other performers have done the same thing. What's the big deal?

It's hyperbole, ljay, meant to refer to the fact that Patti can act as bitchy as she wants and people only love her for it.
I think Ben makes a good point...but Rose would've crammed it down the skank's throat.
I contend that she got off easy.

SporkGoddess - come on, everyone knows hyperbole is not what makes the world go 'round. Be realistic, she's an actress... a fantastically good actress... and you know deep down you'd love to get jiggy with her. She's hot. I bet you'd be breathing from her hoo-hoo in seconds, given the chance.
I thought Patti had a hoo-ha...
