Of course it was stupid of the audience member to leave the playbill onstage, but two wrongs don't make a right. I'm completely flabbergasted as to why people keep defending Ms. LuPone no matter how awful her behavior is. If my favorite performer behaved like Ms. LuPone, I certainly wouldn't defend her behavior now matter how much I loved her.

She kicked a Playbill off the stage! What is so horrible about that?

The fact that it hit someone and she wasn't the slightest bit apologetic. Not that should have broken character and apologized during the show...it's just that over the years she has acted like a complete bitch and been praised for it. I prefer people with a little more class.

Personally, I wouldn't really care if I were hit with a Playbill (it's a PLAYBILL for god's sake, not a rock) and I don't think she should have broken character to apologize.

And give me one example of Patti being a bitch. Maybe a little outspoken, but a bitch? Really?

I've never met her, so I don't actually know. I've just heard various stories over the years.

Honestly, I don't find anything wrong with it. I actually would do the same thing Patti did if the occasion ever came up. I actually had a discussion with my mother at work about this and she feels the same way. Maybe we're just bitches. I don't know.

I hope Patti kicks something at me tommorow night, on my birthday no less!

Perhaps I sould wear a shirt with Andrew Lloyd Webber's face in a target...

To make it look even better, add a bulls-eye on the face of Sir Andrew Lloyd Weeble. from RC in austin, texas..

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

LOL, I have to admit that hatred for Andrew Lloyd Webber is something Patti and I have it common. Maybe I'd like her if she kicked him in the face. Kicking the playbill is within the world of the play

I have heard rumblings that Sir Webber and La LuPone are considering starring in a Broadway mounting of Legends.

I don't care if other performers have kicked playbills of the stage either, it doesn't matter. You guys get so caught up in "what a fabulous diva" that you can't even see rude behavior.

"If my favorite performer behaved like Ms. LuPone, I certainly wouldn't defend her behavior now matter how much I loved her."

Come on then, Elphie, who's your favourite performer?

Oh, did you know, Simon Callow once threw a bucket of water at some man in the front row of a play he was in because the man was sketching the scene. Yep, Simon Callow - as in, Simon "Being an Actor" Callow. I seem to remember him being quite proud of himself, and I have to admit, I'm proud of him too. I think more programmes should be thrown at audience members... I think more buckets of water should be flung...

Elphaba3, I have a feeling you haven't heard any Ethel Merman stories. Patti's behavior is nothing compared to what Merman pulled.

Merman would have said "Get that f*cking thing off the stage now!"

I'm not a fan of Merman either. Kicking the playbill is within the world of the play My favorite performer is Bernadette Peters, btw. She's my goddess, but that doesn't mean I agree with absolutely everything she says or does.

Bernadette is a whore. She sleeps with producers to get the roles LuPone deserves.

Is THAT really the kind of behavior you want from your favorite performer?

I assume you're being sarcastic because I've never heard that rumor before. I don't think it's appropriate to spread those kinds of rumors about anyone (even Patti LuPone). And as for being more deserving, my personal opinion is that Bernadette is a thousand times more talented that Patti. Don't worry, LuPone lovers. I'm not saying your goddess isn't talented. I just think mine is better. Kicking the playbill is within the world of the play

Just for the record, the woman who left the Playbill on the stage and was hit by it laughed it off. She wasn't hurt at all - her entire row got a big kick out of it, pun intended.

I can't believe that Patti LuPone actually kicked a Playbill off the stage. Didn't she know someone would be offended by it?

I find it amusing that people so readily accept the original posters description of what happened. Not to say that LuPone didn't kick a playbill off of the stage, but that she did it "HARD" and with a "smirk" on her face. To be fair to Patti, her mouth is more or less always in the shape of a smirk or sneer.

And MRadio has it wrong. It's not that Bernadette has to sleep with producers, it's that Patti can't find any producer willing to sleep with her. Afterall, Patti was supposed to be the witch in the revival of ITW, but the producers would only bankroll it if Vanessa Williams played the part. Besides, Bernadette can offer producers something better than sex -- ticket sales and publicity for their show. Actually I believe it's really Chenoweth who sleeps with producers and writers, musicians and fellow co-stars to get the roles that would otherwise go to actresses over 4'10" tall.

...& yet you attribute your Patti-hate to "various stories" youve heard thru the years.

Since most people seem to love Patti's drama. Maybe the Gypsy company can do a pitch for donations for Broadway Cares after the curtain call. That really gets her going.

Remember this???
