Current Cast of Wicked

I'm seeing Wicked again next week (for my third time) but the first time in 2 years and taking someone who saw the original cast and worships the cast recording.

How is the current cast? Any standouts?

stephanie j block is an amazing, powerful elphaba that will blow you away, so that's good.[btw, she's ton one you see in the tour commercials]
miriam margoyles[prf. sprout in Harry Potter/ West End actress] is a great Mme. Morrible flown over from London.
Annaleigh Ashford [form Legally Blonde] brings a fresh pop feeling to Glinda, but may be a little weak o=in some parts.

I hope you enjoy it, because the cast is great!

Lisa Brescia (standby for Elphaba) is also fantastic so you'll defanetly get a great Elphaba!

I'll agree with the rest that the cast is strong and you'll enjoy.

Stephanie, David, and Lenny were all part of the original readings/workshops so you'll be seeing people who helped create and understand these characters really well. The whole cast is exceptional.

I have to say that I have seen this cast twice and am going a third time this coming sunday the 13th and I really do enjoy each member of this cast! Stephanie is an amazing Elphaba...She has to be my number one choice...Annaleigh is good but, she definately has her weak moments. The first time I saw Annaleigh she had a horrible first act...All her jokes were falling flat...Then Act 2 happened and she was like a different person. She was good. Alot of times though I see Annaleigh playing the role as Margot from Legally Blonde would...Its like she can't escape that previous character! The rest of the cast are all so nice and David looks soo cute on stage...Then you go to the stagedoor and you see how really gorgeous he is...Hope you have a good time!! :)

I'm going to see the show in a few weeks and I was wondering the same thing. I have heard good things about Annaleigh and Stephanie. I'm not sure about the rest of the cast. I know that I will be seeing Brad Bass as Fiyero (understudy). Has anyone seen him before?

I normally don't read the Wicked posts having seen the OBC and several tours however it's great to hear the current cast is so good!

Stephanie J. Block, at least when I saw her when she was doing the tour, blew all the other Elphabas out of the water. She can sing AND act.

I saw Brad Bass play fiyero in december 06 in chicago. It was like a turnover period where the main fiyero left, and before the other "main" one started, Brad was on for a few weeks I think. But, in my opinion, he was wayy better than the other fiyero i saw (kristoffer something?) I don't know as much about theatre as a lot of the people on this board, but singing-wise he riffed a ton. Personally, I loved that, but some people think otherwise. I'm surprised that he's still around only now in NY! enjoy the show

speaking of David..does anyone know when he's leaving? He told someone who asked him back in December that he was leaving in June but I was just wondering if maybe he extended.

Ben Liebert is also a standout as Boq.
I have to say, I do not Enjoy David as Fiyero. He lacks something in the acting department. He is great looking though, so I imagine that is what makes him so popular.

For David I heard mid june but I haven't heard of any extension- I am hopefully going in the next week or so so I'll ask him when I go!

The current cast is AMAZING. I saw them(well most of them) 6 times now. The current Chistery(I know he doesn't get talked about much) Sam Cahn is the best I ever seen. He's very noisey and active when he's getting his wings. He can also jump about 5 foot in the air. I didn't like David at first but he grew on me. During his and Steph's ALAYM they used to be about 2 foot apart while singing it when he first started but last week the were in each other faces the whole time. Her running her fingers through his hair and grabbing his chest and him almost grabbing her chest...lol. He stuck his fingers in her dimples and she started laughing at him...haha. Lisa Brescia(standby) and Chelsea Krombach(understudy) are very good also so whatever Elphaba you get you will have someone great in the role.

Chelsea went on Saturday March 22 for the 2:00 matinee and was wonderful!
