I actually just saw tonight's performance of In The Heights. It was really good. The cast for the most part is amazing. The only thing that bothered me somewhat was that Benny had a very slight lisp when saying his s's but I just notice those things really easily...the people I went with didn't notice it at all. But that was easy for me to look past.
Overall, great show. The audience is what disappointed me. On one side of my group two people were consistently singing along and on the other a girl was texting the whole time. -_- Enjoy the show!
How is the set for this non-Equity tour? Is it now just backdrops, etc?
The 1st US Nat'l Tour was a carbon-copy of the Broadway production -- scaffolding fire escapes, fully detailed bodega and Daniela's hair salon sets, etc.
The set I think for the most part is the same (I believe. It's been a while since I've seen the show). There is a lot less room for the actors to move and dance around due to the set taking up a lot of the stage but they make it work.
I saw it Sunday night and it was very good. The ending is a cop out, but it's still a great show. I went in with apprehensions toward their Nina & Vanessa, but they really blew it out of the water.
I have a lil something something from the show that'll be up via the usual channels in probably a week or so.
One thing I did notice about the set was that on the upper levels you could see through the walls if there was light shining on them.
This is the second near perfect tour from Worklight Productions and I can see them really coming out as a major Broadway tour producer.
