As for marketing, please tell me how non-eq tours are fraudulently marketed as equity tours?
Easy- As an earlier poster pointed out, when non-Equity tours use the same logos as the Broadway production, sometimes even pictures from the Broadway production, and charge the same ticket prices but usually come from a different creative team with a less experienced cast and scaled down sets, then there is misrepresentation going on. If as sondhead said, "normal people" (what are you inferring here?? haha) only care about bang for the buck, then I think some people would leave disappointed if they paid $60-$80 for tickets to a production that was not as lavish as it could have been for the same price.
That being said, I don't think a production John Doyle's staging of Sweeney Todd would be scaled down anymore than it already was to begin with. I saw the Equity tour last December and loved it, and I hope everyone who sees the tour does as well. I still prefer the 1982 DVD for some parts though.

And it isn't like they just take the logo, it is all licenced. And usually Broadway pictures are used to promote before the tour begins & they get their own pictures.
