Hi, all.
Anyone know if anybody in the cast of "Curtains" (especially Jason Danieley) is scheduled to take a vacation in the near future, and espeicially in the next 2 to 3 weeks?
Thanks.

doubt it, most shows during this time need full attendence due to the tonys, performers cant take any personal days, only unpaid sick days
well i know Jason and Marin are doing a concert here in Boston on the 28th because i have a ticket for it. and i believe he has other dates scheduled as well so a "vacation" could be eminent

In general, have the attendance records of all the principles been pretty good for this show? I've heard nothing bad so I'll hope for the best!
I hope to luck out and catch them all there on a Wednesday night.

Jason will be taking time off periodically to do concerts here and there. Contact him through his website for specific dates.
I believe none of the leads have missed a performance in "Curtains," yet.
The cast for this show is stunning, try to see it with all of them.
Well, at least Debra Monk and Karen Ziemba.

thanks, Dolly. I checked out his website, and he will indeed be out doing a concert the day I was planning on going. Looks like he'll be there on the 20th, though, so here goes plan B!
Thanks for the info!
I'll be at the show on the 20th.
Now I have to scramble for a show in place of Pirate Queen, for which I just ordered tickets yesterday!
I was in NYC on business over the weekend and asked the guy in the Box Office at the Hirschfeld if DHP had scheduled a vacation. He said DHP was scheduled for vacation Oct 9th-14th. I didn't ask anyone else for confirmation, but box office guy answered quickly and seemed very sure. So if you want to see DHP - that's probably not the week!

Ooooh, who's his understudy? It doesn't say on the website. I kind of want to go!
Saw the show a second time last week, and the full cast was present...and spectacular.
John Bolton (who regularly plays Daryl Grady), will be on as Cioffi for the week of David Hyde Pierce's vacation. Bolton, a terrific performer in his own right, was the standby for Matthew Broderick in How to Succeed, and also covered the major roles in Spamalot (including David's role of Sir Robin). He's the male Maureen Moore!
"He's the male Maureen Moore!"
LOL Smaxie!
I just purchased tickets for that week. I can't wait to see what charm or perhaps spin John Bolton will put on the character of Cioffi. He's such a fine actor so it'll be nice to see him out front and center stage. Very excited for him and me!
Smaxie, doesn't JB understudy the role of Chris Beling as well or am I mistaken? If I remember reading the playbill correctly, he understudies for two roles.
IBDB has Kevin Bernard listed as a Belling understudy, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bolton also covers that role.

I went to see "Curtains" yesterday and sat in the front row. It was a great show, but unfortunately I didn't realize that DHP was going to be on vacation and I really missed seeing him. John Bolton filled in for him and did a decent job with one big exception. Since we were "up close and personal" we got to see a little more than we'd bargained for. Bolton seems to "spray" his words as he sings or says them. His spittle (and sweat) was flying everywhere and got worse as the show progressed. At one point, some cast members involuntarily leaned back to avoid being hit. I really felt sorry for those actors who had to get close to him.
How was the crowd adpower? I went earlier this week and those that were there (Mezz was three-quarters empty) were borderline comatose. Not nearly as responsive as usual and only sporadic standing at the Curtain Call. JB did a good job and I'm glad I went. I'll definitely see it again, but with DHP as Cioffi. I'm anxious to see how much of a dip it takes in the grosses this week.
Still my favorite show and still the best cast on Broadway!

The crowd was decent and seemed pretty responsive. They actually gave a standing ovation at the end. I did see a handful of empty seats, but I couldn't really see the mezzanine. For all I know, it could've been half empty. I was surprised when I got front row seats a week and a half before it opened. Now I know why.
Not sure if anyone cares about the character of Randy in CURTAINS (though I do!), but Jim Newman fractured something in his hand at rehearsal on Friday, and he'll be out for six weeks.
I checked for tickets on Theatermania and David Hyde Pierce's vacation dates are listed.
The spitting comes from having good diction. Sorry you could understand everything he was saying.
Aww poor Jim! Do you know who understudies for him?
