From Fantastick to Amazing: Actor Nick Spangler to Compete on TV's "Amazing Race"
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/120532.html
Nick Spangler, who goes on a journey into the wide, cruel world nightly as Matt in Off-Broadway's The Fantasticks, will circle the globe this fall as a competitor on the CBS reality series "The Amazing Race."
Along with his cheerleader sister, Starr, Spangler will battle other teams in a race against the clock, navigating roads, airports and waterways and completing tasks cooked up by the producers. Past teams have done everything from lug a side of beef through the streets to milking a camel — and drinking the warm milk.
The 13th season of the Emmy Award-winning series (premiering Sept. 28 at 8 PM ET) begins at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and follows teams across 30,000 miles in 23 days to Brazil, Bolivia, India, Russia and Kazakhstan. At stake is a $1 million prize.
ALL THE MORE REASON TO WATCH ONE OF THE BEST CBS REALITY SHOWS EVER!!!
I am Obsessed with the show!!! I cant wait till next season!!!
This is my absolute favorite reality show. I've watched every single season (and am still p*ssed they haven't released more DVD's!!) and can't wait for the new one to begin. I didn't realize this was who Nick Spangler was until I read this post. I hope he does well, and I can't wait to Phil again...
"The world is waiting."
Rewind: HOW in the world has Amazing Race had 13 seasons already!?! Hit me over the head! Did a coupla seasons slip-by me without me knowing it?? I hate it when that happens!
I've seen Nick in The Fantasticks and he's simply and utterly adorable (though hetero). Cali-boy pride! Can't wait to tune-in! I'll totally make a thread about it in the Off-Topic board
What Northern California are is he from?
The family season was easily forgettable.
So glad this show is coming back! It has been too long since it has been on TV.

They used to have two editions every year- one in the fall and one in the spring. There was also a couple of years where there was a summer edition.

It won't make me see The Fantasticks, but it's still way cool. It's my favorite reality show by a mile, although I'd didn't really get into it until Season 4, otherwise known as the Reichen and Chip show.
Actually it was a summer show until season 4 and then it graduated to the regular season.
And oh yeah, the Family Edition sucked, especially the godawful Weavers.
I think his sister was on the Making the Team reality series on CMT. If I remember correctly, much was made of her name. It's too tackily perfect for that line of work.

Amazing Race or not, I would really recommend The Fantasticks to anyone visiting or living in NYC. It's just very amusing and wholesome.
LOVED Season 4 So inspiring for the LGBT community who wasn't yet used-to seeing positive and "real" representatives of a gay couple on basic TV.

Starr Spangler.
If she has to carry a Banner, my life will officially be complete.
That said, she's hot.
My favorite was the year Chip and Kim won (season 5??). This was also the year of the infamous Colin and Christie of "My ox is broken!!" fame.
I also enjoyed the year Uchenna and Joyce won, mainly because they beat Rob and Amber.
And, despite not liking the winners, this last season was a lot of fun, particularly Nick and Don.
Okay, so there's a TOTAL Legally Blonde team this season. And *screeching brakes* no gays(?) this year?
One of my favorite tv shows. Color me there!

Camouflage tank top and too-perfect hair and eyebrows? Hmmmmm.

Sorry fellas, I know Nick very well. He's not gay. He's very much involved with a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. (They were introduced by his sister.) Still, Nick's great eye candy, isn't he?
WHAT!? How random. Nick's gonna be on the Amazing Race... I will definitely be watching every episode with his little sister. Hilarious.
JRybka- Nick's family lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. South Bay specifically. Palo Alto more specifically.
PALO ALTO! *woot*woot*
AH. Its actually Los Altos I just realized. It sounded the same in my head. But you can continue to woot for Palo Alto EugLoven, I love all my Alto's.

Actually, Nick's family is from Mountain View, CA. I'm not familiar with that area so I don't know how close it is to Los Altos. I mean, I live on Long Island and frequently places like East Patchogue and Bellport are considered one and the same. That might also be true in CA.
Nick's father is a mortician.

Wanted to bump this thread as a reminder that The Amazing Race starts this evening. Absolute favorite show. I love seeing the places, people, customs, art, landmarks and traditions that I know I would never otherwise have access to. My favorite teams are the ones that always take those few extra minutes, even though they're in a race, to savor and appreciate what surrounds them - to include the good and the not so good.
Also wanted to link Dollypop's interesting article about Nick and Starr. Wishing them well.
BWW article about Nick & Starr on The Amazing Race
I was born (and lived for 1 year) in Mountain View, CA!
THE AMAZING RACE has premiered tonight and *seriously* (theatre bias aside) Nick and Starr are quite simply the best-looking all-around team!
