Okay, I'm pretty sure that I'm Cynthia Erivo's biggest fan. I've seen TCP three times and I have tix for Jennifer's Last show and Heather Headley's first. Cynthia follows me on instagram and has liked 4 of my photos. Anyother other cynners out there who want her to win a tony?

Yes, I think she should win it. There are so many strong singers in shows this year, but nobody has impressed me the way she has. I saw her perform at a Wednesday evening show, and I couldn't believe how powerful her singing was -- especially considering she had sung a matinee earlier in the day.

As I left the theater I was thinking about the "diversity" controversy with the Oscars, and am hoping that Tony voters teach the Oscar voters a thing or two. Before I saw this production of "The Color Purple," I don't remember seeing or hearing anything about Cynthia Erivo in the press -- maybe she doesn't have a publicist or press agent promoting her. But her vocal prowess is unmistakable. The entire cast is first rate in every way, but Cynthia has a God given gift that she knows how to unleash with impeccable expertise.

I hope she wins the Tony. If you are reading this and haven't seen this production -- treat yourself and go. It's a beautiful show, and she is spectacular.

Count me as a Cynner who would be so happy if she won a Tony for goose-bump good performance!!

She absolutely deserves the Tony. With respect to the seating questions, there are no bad seats with the staging of this revival. I was on the extreme side, and I didn't miss a thing.

She was so amazing when I saw the show. The whole cast and just everything was perfect, but Cynthia was a huge force. Vocally what I loved about her besides the obvious was her use of more head voice/mixed voice in the first act and then as Celie goes on her journey she used more of her glorious belt (Miss Celie's Pants, I'm Here). She has my vote for the Tony.

Couldn't agree more. Not only is Erivo vocally brilliant. She's a superb actress. And, what perhaps might be more surprising to many (at least it was to me, unfamiliar as I was with the show), Color Purple is beautiful and sweeping. A great American musical.

She's so incredible, I 100% am behind her winning the Tony. Also, when Hamilton announced that the casting announcement now included women for Burr, she replied enthusiastically on Twitter. Man, I would LOVE to see that.

I wouldn't recommend sitting anywhere in the first 5 rows. I sat in the center, 5th row (im also a bit on the short side) and there is a lot of action/staging that happens downstage center on the floor that was hard to see with taller people sitting in front of me, I would say maybe look for a seat closer to the aisles, maybe 7th row and up? That being said, Cynthia is absolutely spectacular and sitting that close did at least make up for it in that I was able to see every single line of fire and expression (when she wasn't on the floor) in her face. Her performance was breathtaking from start to finish. If you're tall, then I guess you won't have my problem and you should definitely go for one of the first 5 rows. This performance should not be missed!

She's so terrific. I actually was fortunate enough to go back stage and hang out with her for a bit after the show a couple of weeks ago. She was so gracious and couldn't be lovelier. We talked for about 20 minutes about all sorts of things and I left the theater on cloud 9. Funny enough, I saw her a few days afterwards at brunch with Jonathon Groff. As she got up to leave, I went over to her just to say hello. She immediately remembered me and my life was complete. One of the craziest experiences I've ever had. She is giving the best performance this season, hell if not in the last few years. Everyone should RUN, not walk to go see The Color Purple for her incandescent performance!

I really hope she wins. Her "I'm here" shattered me.

I know this season in particular is boasting some of the most impressive female performances in many years, but I still think the Tony is Cynthia's to lose. I haven't seen a performance quite so moving in many years. I have seen all of the other performances most people assume will be nominated (Benanti, Mueller, Soo, Cusack, and McDonald) and nobody even comes to close in my opinion. Fingers crossed!
