I am so happy Megan is taking time now to rest, and heal her injury. She is such a talented performer, and broadway is a demanding beast.
May all artists be able to do the same as needed, and may keyboard warriors figure out a better way to spend their time."
All anyone complained about was a lack of transparency. This has been going on for months. So no bad karma here. The way people twist thingsaround."
People have been calling her lazy and unprofessional for months, but sure try to revise history. Not like the posts are still in this thread or anything.
Theaterfan, Can you point out where someone called her lazy and unprofessional? I did not see that. Not doubting you. I would just like to see it. Awful if they did. However.. this has been going on for a long time and that times article was the first time in months that it was acknowledged. So I understand the frustration.

Literally. Just a couple pages ago people were saying she shouldn't have been eligible or nominated for a Tony because of her absences. There have been countless examples of lack of grace or understanding.
Keyboard warriors who likely wouldn't last two weeks on this type of schedule. And Hilty has earned some grace, she did not have issues previously in other shows. It was obvious she was dealing with something.
"You love to hate me, I'm a perfect celebrity".
Wishing Hilty all the best.

How awful that she even had to mention how much she loves her job. So many have judged from afar, said cruel things without knowing(nor should you have any right to know). If someone calls out from a show then something must have been warranted to call out. If it is something that can't be decided the day before or even a week before than so be it. We get it, if you were planning to attend and have that missed opportunity you can be upset but is it to a degree that you have to voice your frustration over something that can't be controlled... but how many that have raised heck on this board had a ticket for one of them calling out(thats rhetorical I truly don't care) maybe in the future we remember everyone is human and has things happening in their lives that can't be predicted.

As said above this is a THEATER MESSAGE BOARD. Take the holier than thou-ness down a notch.
Where are these cruel things you say people have written? All I saw was understandable frustration. Again.. not doubting anyone. I just must have missed it.
Just wanted to say since they were mentioned, Bundy as Madeline and Kritzer as Helen are my dream replacements when the time comes! Here’s to hoping Hilty recovers well and is back to killing it soon!

maybe the posts about the rules of someone eligible to be a tony nominee based on their absentee record...
or ruining their career for future productions for calling out
or maybe even having their tony nomination revoked
these are just a few and very easy to find , just the passed couple pages of this topic over today and yesterday possibly monday we still dont know why Jennifer Simard is calling out for nor do we have to know, she too may be having vocal issues or something else or nothing at all and neither of it is for us to know.
Ill make it better now that we KNOW whats going on with Meghan Hilty..
shall the tony awards have eligibiliy rules of someone based on them missing performances for vocal injury
shall someone's career be ruined for missing performances in shows from vocal injury
should someone have their nomination revoked for vocal injuries.
so how are any of these comments not cruel? Again rhetoric because of course they are in fact cruel.

You are missing the entire point.
I personally (and I’m guessing a lot of people) did not know it was due to a vocal injury, but it’s never been addressed explicitly until now.
Chill out.

I'm not missing any point. No one has any right to know why any one is calling out regardless if its once or multiple times.
what you are now saying because now you know why, its understandable but when it was questionable its ok to attack or be even more upset is what I am now assuming from your reply so you chill out. k thanks

This board is exhausting.
People calling other people “keyboard warriors” while actively being a keyboard warrior themselves. classic.
I believe many things have been deleted over time, but here's examples I'd categorize as being rude or cruel.

No, that is exactly the point. You all approached her absences in bad faith. You assumed that she was calling out because she just wanted to or because she just sucks at her job as a lead. You didn't approach her as a 20 year veteran of Broadway with no prior history of random absence. You have someone who was doing her best during a pivotal time of opening the show, Tony Nominations, and voting to maintain her ability to perform without taking an extended absence as she now is that all of that is done.
I don't know why it is that people would assume the worst of her just because you did not know the exact reason for why it was occurring. I really think that people should start using their brains before their mouths (or rather fingers).

Approx 6+ months of unexplained consistent absences from a tony nominee is GOING to be discussed and speculated about on here…
I don’t know what to tell you.
Quit being obtuse about this. No one is saying there couldn’t be discussion in good faith.
These comments as highlighted are not that. People making assumptions, accusations, and questioning her care or legitimacy is NOT a discussion in good faith, and you’re (far) old enough to know this.
Just say you’re a bitter old queen who never got to fulfill their dreams of the stage and can it.

I don't know how to tell you this, but what has been going on has not been discussion and speculation, it has been condemnation. There is in fact a difference. Will the same condemnation continue for Jennifer because she has not spelled out her absences for you?
I didn’t get the sense of condemnation from anything here. But I might just be on overload from the Lupone thread . Maybe you want to read it now as condemnation so you can get in a back and forth here? Or maybe you do read it as condemnation? I’m just glad to know to wait about a month to get tickets to see Hilty .

What do you mean by “some of you“? I’m only speaking for myself. But as Dame said I’m not seeing any comments on here that cross any kind of line.
Im done though. Clearly we are not going to see eye to eye. Hope she heals quickly and happy she addressed it.
