I just don't see this doing well on Broadway, even for a limited engagement. It's one thing to bring this watered down version to touring markets that are starved for entertainment, it's another thing to bring it to Broadway, where many people will have seen the original. But maybe I am too cynical and it will do great, to the great demise of the art form and glory of the original.

Check Amber Iman’s IG story. She openly says she was demanding answers behind the scenes. Thank goodness the cast was also standing up and speaking out behind the scenes.

Either they were aware, and decided not to care.ORThey weren’t aware, which means they are not doing any due diligence before offering someone a major role on Broadway. Either way you look at it, it’s not good.

If the casting of west side story taught me anything, or the recent comeback of certain producers… it’s that Broadway (the machine) is truly dark behind the scenes and doesn’t give a crap. Shame on Hadestown. Two bad eggs in a row = shame on them.

I don't know much about the intricate workings at play here, but Broadway feels a little bit like a mafia. A series of monopolies, forcing costs to be exorbitant. Does anyone here have insight into this? Why does everyone use the same company to load up sets when a run closes? Is everyone using the same scene shop/set builders? Do producers really have a choice, or is it virtually impossible as things are to reduce costs?
