DOUBT at the box office...

It came in at #10 for the weekend.

That really isn't too bad, considering it was in the fewest amount of theaters out all of the top 10.

The film grossed $5.67M over the weekend, with a total gross of $8.82M.

When is it coming out in full release?

Yeah. All of the commercials I saw said it would be released in theatres everywhere Christmas day. Granted not every theatre is willing to show the movie there, and would rather go with the movies that will bring in more people.

It's in semi-wide release, they are still expanding I believe. It's obviously not playing at the same number of theatres as MARLEY & ME, BEDTIME STORIES, or even BENJAMIN BUTTON. Every report I've read said that for the numbers of theatres it had a solid opening. It's a good film, hopefully Meryl, Hoffman, and Adams are names enough to get people to see it.

It is playing on two of the three screens at a Landmark Theater here.

How much was their budget? I wasn't aware that 8 million dollars was ever really a good amount for opening weekend..

I am not sure what the budget was. But it's a small scale film. And it played in the fewest amount of theaters out of all the films in the top 10, and plus the subject matter is very dark. So for a Holiday weekend, that was pretty good for this film.

Their budget's gotta be around 10 million...I imagine they're going to be a financial "hit" by next week. It's a cheap film to produce. But a fantastic one. With some of the best acting of the year.

The movie jumps 2 spots this weekend to #8 with a gross of $5.03M making a total gross of $18.7M.

The budget was actually 20 million...a lot more than I thought it would be, but by the end of this week, it'll have made back its initial budget which is fantastic news.
