THANK YOU for this. Was hoping to get a first listen to another song.
There are actually three songs out, and doesn't seem like anyone has posted. But "If I could tell her" is also out: http://dearevanhansen.com/thankyou/

I feel like they sped it up and Laura's voice sounds like she's belting more than in the actual production. This was probably one of my favorites of the show. (Granted I loved every single one)

I figured something was going on with Reqiem since the track length randomly popped up on iTunes. It's not available for download yet though.

the way they're releasing these tracks has been positively obnoxious.

I find the score a little basic outside of Waving Through a Window to be honest. Maybe it will grow on me with repeated listens.

I am. I love Dogfight's score. I think Waving Through a Window is exceptional and my issues with La La Land's music have nothing to do with the lyrics.

Even the baseball glove song? That one stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

You must then fail to understand, from an artistic and dramaturgical standpoint, how critical that song is to the development of Michael Park's character and his own unique - but significant - connection to Ben Platt's character. How we so easily forget what this musical is ultimately about in the end: family.

Yes, it is my intelligence at fault. I'm just so darn forgetful! It has nothing to do with the song being mediocre (especially when compared to the rest of the quite brilliant score). The moment is essential; the song, as written, is not.

Breaking in a Glove is a great song. It may not be a soaring melody, but it's a lovely song that got some really strong applause, both times that I saw it. It tells the story that it needs to tell and it brings tears to the audience's eyes while doing so. It's pretty beautiful actually.

Not sure if it's a mistake, but iTunes just notified me Requiem was ready for download on my pre-order of the cast recording. So now it's mine for good! Woo!

Beat me to it! Not a mistake. It was already in my music folder, just had to hit the cloud/download button.
With all this advance streaming, I'm hoping they do a full album stream somewhere. Book of Mormon streamed it via NPR a few days early, I remember. And maybe Waitress was somewhere...EW.com?

I think Hamilton also streamed early on NPR and Dear Evan Hansen is on the same record label.

That's a shame. I tried to get in touch with Atlantic (having somehow lost my Act I Hamilton booklet, and hoping to buy a replacement) and it's impossible. They have no contact info on their website. You can't message them on Facebook. They don't answer tweets. Ghostlight (Sh-K-Boom), on the other hand, is very easy to reach, and very good about answering emails, even the ones that don't need an answer.
I'm assuming that Atlantic is offering shows like Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen a much better deal than Ghostlight can, but it's too bad that the company who makes and releases the first shows by some composer can't get the benefit when the following shows are big hits.

releasing one song randomly every few weeks...what's the point? just release the whole thing at once. idk i just think it's annoying

I agree. It's digital, so we know there are no issues regarding "pressings" or manufacturing of any kind that would impede a complete digital release.
I don't know what effect they might be trying to accomplish by dribbling out one song at a time, but my choice is not to take the bait because I also find it annoying.
I can understand releasing "first listen"s on the internet, at a lower bit-rate, for free. That generates interest. But when the interest is already there, and I'm ready to buy the whole cow, why are you selling it to me a hoof and a horn at a time?
Just sell me the darned cow already! ![]()

I agree with John Adams. But damn, "You Will Be Found" sounds amazing.

I'm having a hard time understanding how their track release method is so bothersome to you guys. Normal artists do it all the time. They release singles bit by bit to gain interest and then drop the album on the release date. If they just released the damn thing as soon as they were done there would be no time to hype it up. I guess that's what we get having a major label release a Broadway Cast Recording... but I don't have a problem with it.
