Or did they really make a special hat just for the first preview that was just given out to people at that show.
If so, um.... ok. Ok, now they're just getting cocky. A first preview is not an opening night. And Dear Evan Hansen, though quite good, is no Hamilton, Rent or Chorus Line. Frankly, I'm not even sure it's Groundhog Day or Come From Away. (Or Amelie or Anastasia or Bandstand or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but those others are just the other two I've seen).
It's definitely got In Transit beat though. Did In Transit do first preview metrocards or something?
"
its not cockiness it's marketing/advertising . Do you know how many people took pictures with that hat in that night. Went home and told people about the show. Or on the train home or whatever people saw others wearing the hat. It has nothing to do with the fact that like OMG ITS DEAR EVAN HANSENS FIRST PREVIEW THEY ARE GONNA BE HUGE! No they understand their demographic, who they are targeting and doing it very well.
