Social anxiety is like being British 101. Also, the UK core theatre audiences are in my opinion much, much less sophisticated than NYC. Low quality & generic means it'll fit right in. Plus if you look at the current sales, it does seem like this will probably be a hit.

This is interesting. I agree that there is a difference, but it depends on how you would describe "sophisticated". Some might consider UK audiences more sophisticated. Some of them might look down on a show like this and vice versa. It's a bit of the "religious person versus the gay person problem", both can look down on eachother and hope the other will one day see the truth.
My point was that in the USA at the moment, socially, the victim role is very supported and often used and accepted as a way to get what you want, and the core theatre audience there might share this vision as it is all very left and free spirited. This might not be the case in the UK. But I have seen other low quality & generic shows do well in the UK, so you do have a point there, who knows what will happen.
UK audiences might look down on a show like this and vice versa. It's interesting but we shouldn't underestimate the differences in society.

I caught both Evans this week here in London. The cast they’ve assembled here really is quite perfect and the production is as good as anyone would want it to be.
That said, I’m still thinking about Marcus Harman who is the standby Evan. Besides Platt, he’s hands down the best Evan I’ve ever seen and as I said in another thread about the role, the performance he’s giving reminds you why an actor can only do it 6x a week. And while I also enjoyed Sam Tutty (regular Evan), I found him to be a bit too “manic” and I never really connected with his interpretation of the character. And while I left the show with my face wet from tears after Harman, I just didn’t get the same emotional impact from Tutty. I find it interesting that (to me) this is the second time I found the alternate to be a much more convincing actor - I think Michael Lee Brown was phenomenal and far and away better than any of the Evans he covered for (besides Platt).
Other than that, I really want to single out Lauren Ward’s Cynthia (I’ll always think that’s a better role than Heidi) and Rupert Young’s Larry. Both were heartbreaking and perfectly cast.
