Would bet money that she's on the Sonia track singing "Turn Back O Man" - taking Julie Reiber's former spot in from the Paper Mill production.

I was actually thrilled to see this. DeGarmo is a real talent, and I think she's earned her stripes on Broadway. I saw her in BROOKLYN on tour, and I thought she vocally hit it out of the park (though her acting was not as strong as it could have been). I also heard she was great in HAIRSPRAY.

I assume she'll be playing "Diana".

What song she's singing is a different story. I'd imagine "Day by Day" and/or "Bless the Lord".

Yepp! I don't understand the need for a title change when the topic is Diana DeGarmo? Is she the first American Idol contestant to open with a show on Broadway, out of curiousity? I think she is.

The thread title is fine. We already knew about Gavin and Telly, Diana was the one people had heard about but it wasn't confirmed until the Playbill article. I don't think there was any intention to slight the rest of the cast.


I think she's more gifted as a comedic actress given how wonderful she was as Penny but I'm glad to see she's coming back to another show. Her voice though is out of this world and she'll kill whatever song they choose for her.She seems to have a committment to making theater a big part of her career and not just the occasional fly bye appearance like some from Idol.

Nonetheless, it would be nice if the thread title were amended to read "Diana DeGarmo in Godspell & Other Casting News" just in case people don't see the news item on the main page or in the list above.

I'm very glad to finally see it confirmed that Daniel Torres is part of the cast.

Crazy stuff! I was JUST listening to Diana in the car--literally 10 minutes ago. I turned her CD on randomly.

I think it's a sign...

I am SO buying the first tickets I can get my hands on.

Diana truly is amazing--she's going to be amazing in the show and she will make me broke when the show opens :).

Sorry--she is the one performer on Broadway I get all fangirl-ish over.

The playbill article is all the information available right now so obviously we don't know.


I'm hoping she takes Julie's part and sings "Turn Back O Man"

I love Diana DeGarmo!! Saw her in both Hairspray and Brooklyn and she blew me away both times!!! I have to go see this show when it opens!

They ought to do a whole American Idol cast of Godspell:
Can't you see Clay as Jesus, David Cook as Judas with Diana, LaToya, Fantasia, Archuleta, McMee, Hicks and some others? Why didn't anyone think of this before?

I never heard of Diana DeGarmo until I saw her in "Hairspray" and she absolutely stole the show! I look forward to seeing her on stage again!

I'm excited about the whole show. Love Gavin Creel. Love Telly.

I guess I don't see DeGarmo as an "American Idol doing Broadway" because this is her fourth theater credit in less than three years. She seems to take it very seriously and it's part of her career not a lark, which is kind of how I saw Clay's Spamalot gig and Taylor Hicks in Grease. I have nothing against them but I don't see them trying to become long term members of the community either.

Parks you have got it BAD for Diana don't you? How on earth are you going to concentrate on your studies with her spending the fall camped out at the Ethel Barrymore night after night.
