winston89, She looked so much more comfortable on Sunday and so much more relaxed. It was like seeing a different person from last Tuesday. She does have some voice strain thought. I could hear it especially during the parts that she has to shout but it's nothing really big as long as she doesn't over do it. Have a great time at the show :).

I will definitely agree with the fact that she had great attendance. Too bad for the audiences that she didn't call out more often. Ugh. Won't she be with the Chicago company until it closes in January anyway? Kendra leaves with Kerry in November, correct?
why cant we just have a new Elphaba and Glinda...we havent had a new elphaba since Eden (and she wasnt really "new" cuz she had temp. took over for the tour before hand) and we have only had ONE new Glinda since Megan and that was Annaleigh. I know they wanna give the part to someone who knows it well...but this is overdoing it. Also...Shoshana Bean, Victoria Matlock and Kerry Ellis have gone up an octive on the last note in "I'm Not That Girl"
Leo, Annaleigh wasn't really new either. She was the Glinda u/s on the tour with Stephanie. The last real new person that they(I'm talking about the tour though) is Katie Rose Clarke. She came in with no experience in Wicked at all.

"if chelsea is improving and is doing an wonderful job when kerry leaves will she get bumped up to full time elphie or will they ask lisa brescia to take over the role?. i read somewhere that annaleigh will be replacing kendra as glinda when kendra leaves again."
Chelsea is the understudy, behind Julie Reiber who is the standby. A more likely scenario would be Reiber being bumped up in some company (I've heard the new tour mentioned as a possibility), and Chelsea becoming standby. But, they've bumped the understudies up before, ala Cassie Levy.
When was the last time you saw her? She has improved drastically.

I haven't seen her but, but I just really don't like the way she does things going by people's reviews. If I do see her it's not the end of the world but I would prefer someone else.
Annaleigh is staying with the Chicago production for awile, not leaving in August like Lisa. Annaleigh will be closing out the production with Dee (I assume). And she doesn't know what she is doing next. I hate the Wicked recycling too, but if it's someone I like as much as Annaleigh then I wouldn't mind that much, lol.
Ashford is staying with the Chicago production until it closes. However, I don't think anyone knows what she is going to do after the show in Chicago closes.
Personally, I don't hope she returns to Broadway. I felt that I was watching her play Margot from Blonde rather then Glinda up on that stage. I saw her in the show twice and it was painful both times.

Ashford (talk about a thread drift, lol) was a lovely Margot, but a horrendous Glinda. Her Glinda, like many others, didn't have any arc to it- acts 1 and 2 were played exactly the same.
I didn't see the improvement at all. Most Glindas I have seen have matured between the events in the story line between acts one and acts two. I didn't think that I saw that with Ashford. With all this recycling casting I wouldn't be surprised at some point if they brought the actress playing Elphaba from the Japanese production over to do the role in English.

I wish people would stop saying Annaleigh basically played Margot in Wicked instead of Glinda. Didn't she play Glinda first on tour? It seems she brought a lot of her Glinda to the role of Margot rather than the other way around.
I'm glad Kerry is settling in more now. Excited to hear how Aaron does. I wasn't a huge fan of David.
I saw Annaleigh and Lisa Brescia on April 22nd and they were both amazing! Annaleigh was drastically different in act 2 compared to how she was in act 1. I don't really think she was trying to be "legally blondeish", I think it was just her.
I personally loved her as Glinda, and I would get tickets immediately if she returned to the Broadway production.
Your right that that she did play Glinda a handful of times prior to doing Margot in Blonde. However, it isn't a good thing when there are many people who feel that the role she is doing in Wicked is the same as the role that she did in her last show that she was in. I feel that Glinda has a lot of layers to her and when played right can easily show that depth to the character. I can see and understand the perky blonde aspect of the character at least during the Shiz scenes. But, that is not a way I can see the character acting later on in the show. The two times I saw her as Glinda i felt that I saw the perky blonde from the top of act one to the end of act two. And, that I didn't see the transformation one should make when doing the role of Glinda.
I would like to think that Ashford is a good talented actress. But, between seeing her in Blonde (ok the MTV airing of it. But still) and seeing her twice in Wicked and seeing her at the stage door of Wicked those two times. I am not sure if I can say that. I can understand and see where people are coming from when they say that it is just her and she isn't doing the role a la Margot in Blonde. But, it just doesn't seem right for me when a particular actress is playing what is pretty much herself in two different roles. I just feel that she should be able to separate not only herself from Glinda or Margot. But, be able to separate herself between Glinda, Margot and how she is normally when not in character and just being herself. I don't see that seperation that is needed to be a good actor. I just see her not only playing the same character that she played in Blonde. I just felt like I was seeing not Glinda being played by Annaleigh Ashford. But, rather I felt like I was seeing Ashford play a caricature of herself and not play a character up on the stage of the Gershwin.

I don't hang out with her. The only times I have seen her not in any character at all were at the stage door. But, I could ask the same question of you. I am sure you don't know Ashford on a personal level and just have known her based on her work. I could ask you do you know her well enough to say that she is just being herself. Unless you personally know her I don't think you do.

Can I just go back to what winston89 said on the previous page: "The Broadway is bigger both because the show is physically bigger then the London one and Broadway is bigger in general then the West End stage"
In terms of size, the West End Theatre where Wicked in London is, the Apollo Victoria, the stage is bigger than at the Gershwin, and I believe seating wise it is larger aswell. So I don't understand how the Broadway show can be physically bigger than the West End show when the stage is smaller.
And to get back on topic, which is Kerry Ellis, she isn't 100% fit, vocally or physically at the moment, but as always with Kerry she is pushing through it the best she can. She doesn't understand the meaning of taking time off to get better, she takes as little time of as she can, because she dislikes letting people down, which she probably feels she has already by missing the shows she has during her opening week.
