yes, but she may have her contract till June 7th...because thats when most cast seem to have their contract ended.

however, she could do an Idina and leave earlier I guess.

personally I hope she stays till June.

Kerry started on Monday night on Brodaway and she returns to London this December

Kerry started on Tuesday night since Wicked is dark on Mondays.

She's contracted in London till April, 2009, but scheduled to leave Broadway in mid-November-ish, returning to the London production on December 1.

Contract dates and lengths of contracts for this show are staggered...all the recent Broadway cast principals (Block, Ashford, Burnham, and Wolpe) have exited or will exit on different dates and all have had different lengths of stay.

What are you talking about? Menzel left the Broadway company in January of 2005, when her contract ended. She even extended to be around that long. She never left "early." Even in London, she was only under contract for a few months to open the show, then Ellis was going to take over.

i meant Idina left the London production earlier in the year, not contract.

the June 7th thing, it just seems to be when most of the London cast end their contracts...or in Kerry's case, contract transfer.

so I assumed that their year contracts were from June-June. maybe its just a coincidence.

Hmm, I find that most of the major cast changes happen in December (Ana, Idina, Shoshana) all left around Christmas or a little after. Some leave maybe in October...idk it just seems like alot of replacements come in after the holidays. In London tho they typical end in July-ish.

Kerry was out again for today's matinee. Didn't see the show, but was just stopping by to look at the merchandise and saw the understudy board (Chelsea was on, btw). Is she going to miss all matinees?

I wonder where Julie Reiber is and why she isn't covering these absences? Is she on vacation this week? She is not one to not go on, if she has the opportunity (she is always writing in her blog how much she loves going on and performing this role).

Well since Chelsea rarely gets the chance to go on, maybe the stage manager is giving her opportunities to go on.

Wow. I listened to some stuff on youtube from her first show on Broadway and can't imagine what those who didn't like her were thinking. I thought Glinda's acting was terrible. But listening to them convinced me to try to get tickets to Wicked when I go to NYC at the end of July (Sell a kidney if I have to...) to see her again. She is fantastic.

Wasn't Shoshana told to tone it down by the conductor during her run? Someone needs to, I mean geez. She can't sing a whole phrase without overdoing it.

Eden wasn't as bad. Another major riff nut was Brandi Chavonne Massey. I don't see the big deal with riffing.

Hopefully Kerry finds her niche and doesn't resort to overtly singing to compensatefor a lackluster acting performance as many have.

I don't know why Julie isn't going on instead of Chelsea. But, keep in mind that just because Julie is the standby it doesn't automatically mean she goes on right away all the time when Kerry is out. I think the stage manager is letting Chelsea go on because she hasn't gone on as often as Kerry. I agree with what was said that Kerry is most likely using this week to get used to the Broadway production. The Broadway is bigger both because the show is physically bigger then the London one and Broadway is bigger in general then the West End stage.

I saw Chelsea as Elphaba at the matinee yesterday (21st)...I thought she did well and especially enjoyed her Defying Gravity, but I thought she seemed sort of inexperienced, esp. at the beginning of the show...her range was maybe less than most Elphabas? She seemed to struggle with some of the high notes early on (though she was right on all through the second act), and took the last note of I'm Not That Girl up the octave, which I hadn't heard done before. She did really well but I was really sad not to see Kerry...esp. cause there's really no way for me to go back since I'm from WI lol...

Kerry did Tuesday night (her first night), Wednesday matinee,
Friday night, Saturday night and is scheduled for Sunday matinee (June 22nd).

Julie Reiber did Wednesday night and then took personal days off for the rest of the week and was not available to go on.

Therefore, Chelsea did Thursday night and Saturday matinee.

I believe Chelsea is the only one who always goes up rather than down on the final note of "I'm Not That Girl" because it suits her vocal range better.

It looks like with the exception of Thursday night the only performances Kerry has missed are those that have matinees. It seems based on this that I am getting the impression that she is just easing into the Broadway production rather then taking time off for vocal problems. I think that if she were taking time off for vocal problems then she would be out constently rather then only a few performances.

At firat I think people thought she was ill but actually they seem to be just easing the girl in and believe me when she gets there she will be wowing audiences night after night!!!

I saw Kerry again on Sunday and I must say that she was 100% better than on Tuesday night(First night jitters). Her singing voice was INCREDIBLE as was her speaking voice. She was just talking like she normally does. Not the put on American accent that she did on Tuesday. You could tell in DG that her throat was hurting her. She did a LiL baby growl on LOOK. Nothing like what she did on Tuesday.

The "Growl" is back.

It is also on her sampler CD sold in the lobby...but a little different than the way she does it on "Look to the Western sky" onstage.

Last week I was concerned that I would have spent money to go to a performance just to see Kerry and have her not be there. But, after what I have just read It is comming off more and more that she had trouble adjusting rather then any voice problems.

is it just me that the elphies recently have been missing alot of performances but in the cast of sjb her ankle injury than the glindas?

if chelsea is improving and is doing an wonderful job when kerry leaves will she get bumped up to full time elphie or will they ask lisa brescia to take over the role?. i read somewhere that annaleigh will be replacing kendra as glinda when kendra leaves again.
