I saw the Broadway National Tour in Pittsburgh last year and really enjoyed in, having never seen the movie but familiar with the basics of the movie through film clips and scenes from other sources.
Now that the new National Tour has gone Non-Equity one of its stops is local, and a co-worker of mine (a HUGE Dirty Dancing fan) wants to see the show. What are the chances that the tour will use the exact same backdrop/scenery from the Broadway National tour, since it was rather basic and not very complex for the entire show? Also, should she expect to be "entertained" having never seen a National Tour of any kind, official Equity Broadway or not? I always read or thought that I had read that Non-Equity tours were more or less lower quality and therefore to be avoided?
I don't want her to be disappointed, so any words of advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Wasn't the equity tour already doing split weeks and one night stops?
It's played Chicago at least twice; were those occasions Equity or non-?
Didn't catch it previously, but want to see it now 'cause I kinda sorta like the recording.
It was my least favorite show I have ever seen. Equity, Non-Equity, Local, Community, College. The worst.

When I saw it in Pittsburgh it played from Tue, May 23 - Sun, May 28, 2017 at Heinz Hall.
It was Equity when it played in Madison 3 years ago, but it was god-awful. I can't believe they can't find performers who can sing to play the leads, instead having two singers stand with microphones while the dancers do the dancing. I don't want to use the word acting because literally no one looked like they cared about book scenes.

Huh? DIRTY DANCING was never on Broadway.

This was also one of the worst tours I ever saw a few years back in LA...are you telling me it will be even worse now that it's non equity? doesn't seem possible...

Sorry. After going back and re-checking it was part of the "PNC Broadway In Pittsburgh" 2016-2017 season, but you're correct in that there was no mention of it being an official 'Broadway' national tour. My error.
And THANK YOU everyone for your comments.
