What's even more shocking are the grisly sound effects and the fact that it was released on a red vinyl long-playing LP (of which I am still a proud owner).

I own the disco single too ... an extremely guilty pleasure.
It was produced by Thomas Z. Shepard, who was the producer of many of Sondhsim's cast albums ... incluidng SWEENEY TODD.

I swear this is footage from the Seattle version... It's obviously not but the production in Seattle was very similar.
