Disney's Hercules on Broadway?

With BEAUTY AND THE BEAST closing, THE LITTLE MERMAID making her way to Broadway this coming Holiday Season, and so many other Disney Broadway productions walking the boards, I have high expectations for the next venture. Perhaps, a musical adaptation of the 1997 animated feature, HERCULES? If so, I think that the writing team could make use of songs from the actual film, with a few additional numbers added.
I have a feeling it could look a little something like this. Again, this is just my first draft. Heh.
ACT I:
Prologue.........................................The Storyteller
The Gospel Truth (I)...................................The Muses
The Gospel Truth (II)..................................The Muses
Th Gospel Truth (III)..................................The Muses
Go the Distance...................................Young Hercules
Oh Mighty Zeus.........................................The Muses
Go the Distance (reprise).........................Young Hercules
One Last Hope...............................................Phil
Zero to Hero...........................................The Muses
I Won't Say (I'm In Love)....................................Meg
A Star Is Born.................................The Muses/Company
It's got some catchy tunes... I can remember seeing this film in theaters for my 10th birthday. I thought it was a great show, and knowing that Disney's going back to what made the 90's the 90's...2-D movie-musicals, I have high hopes that they could build with this show.

i lovedddd hercules. it would make for a great musical.
and maybe get susan egan back here to reprise meg! now that would be fantastic!
i'm thinking some things may be very hard to do, like all the monsters [there are SO MANY] and the river of death thing at the end..
it's a good idea though.

Posted: 3/18/07 at 7:41pmI've said that this was the only Disney movie I could ever see being a true quality Broadway musical. Disney should just close up shop on any pending screen to stage adaptations they have and just do this one. As well as close Tarzan. Just because it's Tarzan.

Interesting that your big idea for Act I is every single song from the movie, in the order that they appear in the movie, performed by the characters that perform them in the movie. I assume you've saved a big surprise for after the intermission.....?
I don't mean to judge, though. You said yourself that it's only a first draft.

Boy, I'm really showing my (young-ish) age when I say I remember all of that, from Pocahantas in the Park to standing on the freezing cold street waiting for the Hercules parade.
Fun times, my mid-childhood.

Posted: 3/18/07 at 8:36pmI still remember seeing Cinderella go by waving at me when I saw the electric parade in Disneyworld when I was 4...I had to stay with my grandma because I was too small to go on Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror which my parents and siblings went on....Wow it's crazy that I remember all of that, I also remember crying when I saw Snow White because I was afraid of her, even though at the time Snow White was the only person I wanted to meet

Of all the Disney movies, this one is by far the easiest to make the transition to the stage. But can you imagine Disney producing a show about a guy who turns his back on commercial endorsements?
Yeah, like that would *ever* happen.....

I always saw Zero to Hero being the Act I closer...if nothing else that would at least leave a couple of songs from the movie for Act II.
"Please there are 100 more threads on Wicked and Grey Gardens and Spring Awakening and other shows"
Everyone always talks about how there are SO many threads about Wicked, but there really aren't THAT MANY threads about Wicked these days...maybe when it first came out, but now, not any more than the next big show.

To whomever it was who made mention of how the songs in Act I came exactly from the film. That's exactly my point. In my post, I had said, take the songs from the film that were solid, and could 'work' on stage. I'll have a full song list soon enough...

Posted: 3/18/07 at 9:44pmCome on people--the score is great but the story structure stinks. This would not adapt well. I'd much rather listen to the soundtrack than watch the DVD any day.
