Tarzan didn't do great as a movie! I think they'll put Poccahontas up first!
This will get fan girls to go
David Archuleta as Young Hercules

They'll do Pocahontas before Tarzan? Didn't Tarzan already happen?

Does that mean you liked the Sills suggestion? Thanks for putting him in your cast list! =)
Hercules was already made into a stage musical (Hercules the Muse-ical) for the cruise line. That is what Toy Story is replacing I believe.

Yes! I hadn't even thought of him but since you said it, I think he'd be perfect.
I don't know, I"m rather enjoying my hypothetical casting for the show.
I'm also going to say Kecia Lewis-Evans should be one of the muses.
Eh, I like Sutton Foster, but I think she should stay away from this (should it every actually happen.

Ed-Motter..., I was just thinking the same! I immediately thought of Cheyenne for the part--who knows, you might just get your wish!
I happenned to see Hercules being played (the play adaptation)while on one of the Disney cruises, and I thought it was fantastic! I think I have a tape of it, since I took my video camera to all shows onboard! But, I'm sure is "illegal" to post video here
Of course, it needs some "fine tuning" for Bway, but I think it will be a hit with the adults, as well as the kids, since it is pretty humorous...and I don't exactly remember all the "special effects", I just remember that I was impressed with them, and the music, and it will translate well to the Bway stage.
I like Disney...so, sue me! With as little as kids tend to have in Broadway nowdays (although this season was a good one) why not Disney?
AND, I do hope THOND (...Notre Dame)does make it to the Great White Way...SOON! ;D

As much as i love the movie, I would much rather see HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME reworked onstage. I know that it has been tried in the past, but I think the score is fantastic.
And if not, try SNOW WHITE or SLEEPING BEAUTY.

I mentioned this on another thread today, but Newsies is next. A lesser known Disney flick so they have a little more freedom to play around with it.
Isnt that sort of like fantasia. I have heard of it, but havent seen it. Apparently its kinda good. A little more info please

Haha not at all. It's about these group of orphaned boys who sell newspapers around the turn of the century. It's what made Christian Bale famous. Think of it as like the boys version of Annie taken to the streets...oh, and of course, SO MUCH BETTER!
On another note, what about Leslie Kritzer as Meg? She could be fierce as hell!

A great deal of thread jacking here, but why the hell is Newsies next? It flopped as a movie, and with the recent luck Disney has had on Broadway, I would think they would want more shows with instant name recognition. It's not smart to just rely on the cult following Newsies has. And the same applies, to a lesser extent, with Hercules. Why an 11 year old movie that the tweens today might not even remember? It may have been been popular on a cruise where it's the only live entertainment, but when there's the option for families: Wicked, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, and the other Disney shows... I think Disney peaked with The Lion King. They can't top it, so families are seeing that instead of the new Disney shows. End of non sequitur rant.

That makes much more sense.

for the past couple of days some people i know have been developing a script and brainstorming ideas of how to work the tech with the monsters and such. and i mean with the technology available today anything is possible on broadway. the monsters could be constructed in the same style that the lion kings costumes were done and the river of death could be done like the little mermaid did her swimming up to the surface at the end.
i truly believe that hercules has the potential to become an amazing broadway show. just as long we can keep disney from effing it up :P

I did this illegally at a camp. I really liked it and thinks it would be good on Broadway. I was Hades and won the best actor at my camp for that role.

I think Hercules would be good if they added more songs, because I think it's a movie where the characters have a lot of heart (especially Meg) and would be interesting enough for a full-length show. As much as I love Douglas Sills, though, I'm not quite sure I see him as Hades. Hades should have kind of a thin, raspy New York accent.
Of course, I still GREATLY prefer Hunchback of Notre Dame, and I really want an American stage production. I actually think that one would be a better stage musical than animated film.
I think it would be cool if each scene started off with the characters in a tableau in a vase or urn. Like in the opening of the movie how they have those urns with all the heros. Then the characters would leave the vase or urn and continue on with the scene.
The Hydra could be cool. My idea would be to have a base that moves around the stage. This would be the body. Then there would the heads coming off of the base. The head could have pole attached to the chin of each head. Then the chorus could run around and move the head while they fight.
