It's really just a sorry excuse for a lame jukebox musical.
It has to do with a recording studio and a bunch of singers....
or something to that effect...

Posted: 6/14/05 at 12:52amI never got the chance to actually see the show, but I own the cast recording. It's got some good, classic Disney songs, all sung by really talented singers (Kaitlin Hopkins, Andrew Samonsky, Andy Karl *the reason I purchased the cd, heh*, Tyler Maynard), although I don't really see how strong the story could've been from just the CD. And from what I've heard, I'm right and the overall show was not good.

The story, from what I could gather, was that there are four people. Older man, older woman, young man, young woman. Young man and young woman fall in love. Vaguely. They are all at a recording studio. Older man and older woman sing funny old people songs. Young man and young woman sing devastating corny songs. Everyone is happy at the end. Except for the audience.
Disney does the jukebox musical.

I saw the show when Emily Skinner was still in the cast. It was worth every penny......my ticket was free.
But on a positive note, at least it wasn't Brooklyn.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 11:36amI heard some of it on amazon. And I really don't think they should have messed with classic disney songs like that.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 11:41amDon't waste your money. If you are really curious, just buy the cast recording, it's basically the whole show because there's no speaking. Through 60% of the show, I was bored out of my mind.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 1:52pmIt's not a show, it's a musical review with a very very thin plot, but the singers are all really great. So, if you go just wanting to hear talented people singing familiar Disney songs, then you'll enjoy it. Don't go expecting to see a musical.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 2:12pmI saw the show a few months back and really enjoyed myself. I wasn't expecting "Carousel," so I wasn't dissapointed. It is a revue along the lines of "Ain't Misbehavin," "A Grand Night For Singing," or "Side By Side By Sondheim." If you're expecting dramatic storytelling and fully developed characters, then you are bound to be dissapointed. If you go in, like I did expecting to hear good singers sing Disney music, then you'll likely have a good time. And SouthFlMarc, I do not consider myself stupid and I chose to see this show. Be careful when you say things which are simply not true. People like shows for a variety of reasons. If a person has a good time, or if a show touched someone, it sounds more ignorant to call them stupid for feeling that way.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 3:09pmThe show was great for what I paid, free, and i did see it twice in cleveland, where it all began, but it is not the best. Some great arrangements, great clear Disney voices, Emily was amazing, as Katlyn is as well, Andrew Samonskys voice is divine ,as is Ashley Brown's. Its fun, but dont expect Disney Spectacle. I sat there waiting for the set to transform into a castle, or see Pride Rock circling out of the stage (JK). If you like Disney music then check it out. As said before dont, DONT expect a strong storyline or developed characters. A weak plot with a love story thrown in was not cute.

Posted: 6/17/05 at 2:00pmI saw this last night at Starlight. A very pleasant show. I really enjoyed the voices, and it was fun to hear how they wove all of the Disney shows together. Others are correct, no plot...it's one big Disney concert. I did feel somewhat sorry for the little kids who came with Mickey or Cinderella on their shirt hoping to see costumed characters. Sorry kids...just a bunch of (very good) singing.

Posted: 6/17/05 at 2:05pmDefinately one of the worse things that I have ever sat through. The alleged storyline was insiped and the staging inane. Do not waste you money. But, my nine year old daughter loved it, so what do I know??

There really isn't a storyline - I mean, in the program and on the site, etc., they SAY there's one, but they don't really execute much of one in the show - it's all pretty random.
If you like Disney songs, are up for new ways of playin' around with em' (lotsa medleys and such), aren't looking for theatre but something more along the lines of the showchoir type shows at amusement parks, and are up for hearing some pretty amazing voices, then I'd reccommend it, but only if you get the cheapest tickets or can get a big discount or free, etc. Otherwise I'd just buy the cd.
The other thing - when I saw it, it drove me crazy that the audiences here in Cleveland interpreted it as such amazing theatre rather than taking it for what it was - if you have the tolerance to hear people rave about it and how amazing it is while other truly amazing shows can't even sell tickets...then go, lol.

Posted: 6/17/05 at 3:00pmI have a friend who is in the quartet in the tour and even she says it isn't a good show. I think if you belong to the Disney Cult you will like it but other than that I think it would be like 'Bring In Da Noise...' it would get really old really fast! I of course have to go and buy the CD since she is in it and it is her first recording but I dot I will listen to it more than once.

Posted: 6/17/05 at 3:12pmIt ends its tour here in Denver. July 19th - 31st. Just got some promo stuff last night including a sampler CD. I am giving it to a co-workers child. Disney usually does not do comps here so I doubt I will see it.
