Often the producers will brag about that...I'd expect to hear Mormon bragging tomorrow.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Who would have actually made money after the Tony Awards except maybe Mormon and War Horse. They took the vast number of awards that people care about or pay attention to and their sales were excellent to begin with.
How many people saw the Tony's and said "Oh, wow, look at the awards they won (NOT true for anything except BOM/War Horse) or look at that great performance (NOT true for most musicals last night), I need to get my tickets to ____________ (insert show that isn't BOM or War Horse here)"
Compare that to last year, when Memphis won, it was a much less known musical that wasn't selling particularly well. People knew little about it and saw its big win, a fun performance (you don't have to love the show to admit the performance on the Tony's last year was pretty good), and its sales increased dramatically. Don't see that happening with anything this year.

Right, but even still the producers usually say how much their shows made the day after, so I was curious.

I remember Riedel talking about how the sandwich board folks for Memphis were out in full force despite the Tony wins. I work for a ticket agency and our biggest uptick was How to Succeed and Sister Act. And of course, it would be Mormon, but we ain't got tickets.

I hope Normal Heart sees a bump too. And good news about Sister Act! (my favorite underdog show of the season)

I recall that the revival of SHE LOVES ME closed two weeks after Boyd Gaines won his "Best Actor in a Musical" Tony. Obviously his winning didn't mean anything at the box office.

I don't quite know the reasoning behind it (perhaps to help push sales for the dates further in advance due to no short-term availability anyway,) but THE BOOK OF MORMON doesn't allow you to search tickets on Telecharge by range of dates prior to January.
The website says, if you're purchasing single tickets before that time, to use the individual date option, but that would literally require going specific date by specific date, unless you use the option that lets you select a limited number of specific dates yourself grouped together. For the furthest performances in January through April, you can use the normal option that gives you any availability within two periods of time.

It's to keep the system from crashing because of the high volume of traffic. The show is essentially sold out until January except for whatever house seats may be released (and apparently there haven't been many) so there's no point in making the computers search every date from now through December when most of the time they won't come up with anything during those months.

I'll bet a lot of shows got bumps in sales after the telecast. The musical numbers came off really well for the most part. In addition to the big winners (Mormon, War Horse, Anything Goes), I could see How To Succeed and Pricilla getting bumps. Their performances were great on the telecast. Of course, I wonder how many people think Martha Wash is in Pricilla now. I know I'd buy a ticket if she was.

Didn't Grey Gardens close in July after both actresses won Tonys. I don't think Tonys guarantees selling seats for serious and darker works. I think people will see a How To Suceed, Sister Act or Priscilla number and get excited and buy tickets. Shows like Normal Heart people might pause and be like, "that seems heavy" and might not proceed with a ticket sale.

Looks like the rush tickets to THE NORMAL HEART will now be a fortunate memory, so it's best to seize those $26.50 seats before they're gone. The show also reduced three rows of rear mezzanine seats from $96.50 to $66.50 and there are still discounts out there for $75 seats, but everything is being snapped up pretty quick, so if you want to see the best-acted ensemble production on Broadway, I'd get a ticket NOW. Closes July 10th.
The number of people who will not see a show they don't want to see... is unlimited.

Normal Heart took in 3x the daily receipts after the Tony Awards.
