From the Toronto Star
ROCK OF AGES COMING
Get out your studded belts and acid-wash jeans, Toronto. The '80s are coming back with a vengeance.
The Toronto Star has learned that the current Broadway hit Rock of Ages, devoted to the music and madness of that tawdry, terrific decade, will start an open-ended run at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in May 2010.
A source high in the show's New York organization revealed that Mirvish Productions will present the show in association with the consortium of nearly two dozen producers who opened it on Broadway on April 7 of this year.
It's expected that most, if not all, of the cast will be Canadian, although there is no word yet whether there will be an attempt to duplicate New York's stunt casting of American Idol favourite Constantine Maroulis in the leading role.
Tony-nominated director Kristin Hanggi will remount the show in Toronto and is expected to be in the city next Thursday for the news conference officially announcing the production. Attempts to get a comment from the Mirvish office were unsuccessful.
Rock of Ages follows the same route as such popular shows as Mamma Mia! and We Will Rock You, in that in combines a storyline with existing song hits. In this case, the tunes are from the likes of Journey, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake and other '80s favourites. ("Don't Stop Believin'" is the singalong finale.)
The show will have played 220 performances on Broadway as of Friday, usually at close to capacity houses.
New York Times critic Charles Isherwood summed up its appeal when he wrote in his review that "this karaoke comedy about warped vinyl dreams is about as guilty as pleasures get ... impossible to resist."

The Toronto article is fine except for the part about stunt casting Constantine. He's earned his rep on Broadway.
Now if they are going to do stunt casting in Canada, I have no idea who the draw would be, but the theater is epic.
I saw the Toronto production of Godspell there back in 1973.

Jekyll & Hyde back on Broadway! / Rock of Ages - 5 Tony nominations! Awesome!

I wasnt a fan of Waitress number one... never saw her before
And while I thought Tom was great, I miss Wes =[

You have no idea, I hate this.
I sat through that nightmare of a class making sure to note when it was half hour call, when the show started,
and the ceremony is probably happening in what, 20 minutes?
What preview pic??

Arsenal won their category and they sprayed the audience with champagne. Joel said something like the other bands should stay in the pit.
