Donna Murphy to Return to Broadway in THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE

Glorious. I can't wait to see Donna back on the stage.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Wow, this is so incredibly excited! I cannot wait to see Murphy in a new musical, the first time she'll be singing a brand new score on Broadway since her Tony-winning turn in PASSION! Doesn't get any more exciting than that, hopefully this is better than the hot mess called WOMEN ON THE VERGE.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

Has the article been removed? When I clicked on the link it brought me to an article about Donna Murphy but no mention of THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE...
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Donna Murphy to Return to Broadway in THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE

Ljay, haven't seen it but have heard it, admittedly not best way to judge a show but as a huge fan of the film and the stars involved, I'm quite disappointed with what they came up, the raw material was there for something quite special and it didn't sound to me that's what they ended up with. Mediocre and meh were the first words that came to mind, but perhaps it's all about the live experience...though I can't imagine that score being any better live (Tony award for Laura Benanti though!)

I think this role sounds incredibly interesting for Donna Murphy, the story sounds pretty fascinating. Does anyone have any idea what the word is from the workshop? From what I understand she has been involved for quite some time.

This is the first I've heard about this. I'd never been a super Donna Murphy fan -- didn't hate her, just didn't understand what all the broohaha was all about (I know, I'm in the minority here, so don't anybody shoot, please) -- but her cancellation record for Wonderful Town was so off-putting for me that I can't get all the excited about seeing her again.
