I'm so sorry to hear this - she looked great in the Viva Broadway! streaming concert event on October 1st, and it was wonderful to see her in the In The Heights reunion performance. I hope she gets very good care, and has a smooth and complete recovery.

Shame. I saw Doreen twice in On Your Feet!, including once as Gloria Fajardo after Andréa Burns left the cast. Wishing her the best, and a full and speedy recovery.

I almost forgot she was Janet Lundy in Mrs. Doubtfire at the time of the shutdown. Her strong stage presence will be very hard to replace if the show gets to officially open late next year. Terrible, terrible news all around.
For those wondering about possible replacements, Pearl Sun read for Lundy at the first industry workshop last year, and Montalvo's understudies on B'way were Kaleigh Cronin and LaQuet Sharnell Pringle. Montalvo will be missed big-time.

Was lucky to see Doreen's Abuela on one of the rare times she went on. Her "Paciencia Y Fe" is out there is you wish to view it.

The hell??? The lady wasn't even at the mortuary, and you wanna list the possible replacements......for a show that won't even open for 8 months.....maybe??? You could've left that part out.....nobody was wondering.

Very sad news. I was lucky enough to see Montalvo as the understudy for Gloria's mother in On Your Feet. At the time, I was disappointed to be missing Andrea Burns, but Montalvo was excellent. Her chemistry with Villafañe and Ektor Rodriguez was a big part of why I ended up getting emotionally invested in the show, despite the fact that I generally hate bio-jukebox musicals.
