Broadway.com posted a clip of the cast of Music in the Air. Douglas Sills introduces it and we get to hear a bit of him singing w/ Kristin Chenoweth. He, along with the rest of the cast, sound AMAZING! :]

Regardless of whether or not it sucks, it's nice to see ENCORES! serving their purpose - i.e. dredging up little-known gems instead of putting on stuff like "Damn Yankees" and "Gypsy".
And everyone sounds fantastic. Sierra Boggess can SING!

Posted: 1/30/09 at 2:21pmOld-fashioned? Okay. Creaky? Music in the Air is one of Kern's melodic masterpieces and it will be a joy to hear the entire score once again. AND, the entire score as written in 1932, not the 1952 revision. One of the most beautiful songs in the score, And Love Was Born, was dropped in the revival and it will be wonderful to hear it again. It is a major shame that this show never had a full length recording (ditto Cat and the Fiddle, another Kern gem). The Jane Pickens version just doesn't cut it at all and the radio transciption from the early 1950s is not in good sound, truncates the score and is indifferently sung. Would that this would be one of the Encores! productions that got a recording.

I've been a bit 'off' Kristin since she went all squeaky and "Hollywood" in recent years - but, wow..that clip of her singing "The Song is You" made me fall in love with her all over again.
The is the one ENCORES! I've been most looking forward to.

Awww, Douglas Sills is still lovely to look at and to listen to! And the facial hair works for him-- very dapper.
I'm really astonished by Kristin Chenoweth every time I hear her singing something that's not from "Wicked." I always forget what a really fantastic voice she has sometimes-- and Sierra Boggess also sounds terribly beautiful and so different from Ariel! The whole cast is phenomenal.
(I'm really sorry, but who is the guy who sings after Douglas Sills and Kristin Chenoweth, with the dark brown hair and the pointy nose and wiggly eyebrows? I don't recognize him, and I feel bad because he has a nice voice and sounds a lot like Douglas Sills as well.)

Is there any chance of it? I'd be first in line!

Posted: 1/30/09 at 5:06pmJust saw the clip -- Chenowith really surprised me (favorably). When she goes into The Song is You, she's right on target and sounds like the diva she's playing. I can't wait for this!!!!!

My word, this needs to be recorded for CD! It's a beautiful, historic score that has yet to be fully or properly documented on disc and, good God, what a cast!
Anyone seen any info on a possible recording? I'm thinking about contacting PS Classics, Ghostlight, and DRG to see if any of them have looked into it.
