Look guys...
We're a startup... we could have bootstrapped this, and had it on the street a year ago... instead, we're thinking long-term, and globally. We have aligned ourselves with the LARGEST independent media distributor in the world. These guys know what they're doing. Anyone can get their CD sold by Amazon, but it takes a machine to get the records into stores, worldwide, and that is what Koch does.
With that said, maybe we shouldn't have shared the target release dates -- we were pretty firm on April 4, there was a minor issue that delayed Jekyll by one day, and since we want to roll both CDs out on the same day, that kicked us back 2 weeks. This is how it works with the big boys.
If you're looking to beat us up for this, in the future, we can ship then announce, but then you'll be screaming at us because you didn't see it coming.
There are MANY people working hard to get this puppy shipping -- my work has been done on this for a long time...
In our e-blast, we stated, "expected to ship" -- yes, I left a hole in case something happens.
The difference between a deadline for a product such as a CD, with NO forced deadline, means you can take your time to get it right... we do not have to rush it out for an arbitrary deadline set by "the man". When we do shows, at 8pm, the people will be there, you better be ready... and if not, you do your best... we don't have to do our best... we can wait and make it right.
How many of you are performers who have gone on stage under-prepared for an opening because you had to? You'd be lying if you didn't admit to it.... wouldn't it be nice to get an extra month of rehearsal or tech?
In our case, we could have simply rushed it out, but instead, we're letting the experts in distribution do their job. It doesn't effect us, except for a little reputation smear on the promised date. I will hope that most of you will get over it once the CD ships.
We're very proud of the music and the performances.
Can't wait for everyone to hear it!
Thanks,
Jeremy
