Simply in terms of part size, I don't think the Gemignani/Felciano thing makes sense.

Interesting that Color Purple was completely snubbed.

The Threepenny snub was coldhearted.
These nominations are wacky...The Tonys are going to be VERY interesting.

What is up with "Color Purple" being completely snubbed and how can "Wedding Singer" be considered a best musical? Anyway, just my shockers coming out of my personal opinons.

I think Wedding Singer may be a stronger contender for Best Musical than we thought...
Sutton for Lead Actress was kind of a surprise.

At the very least, you'd think La Chanze would be up there.

The more I look at these, the more surprised I am becoming. None of the Featured Actresses from Sweeney, but Carolee from Lestat? That's just not right.

I'm happy for Grey Gardens.
I'm surprised at the Jerry Zaks nomination. I thought his directon of Caine Mutiny was pedestrian and wooden. I'm also surprised it got nominated for best revival.

I liked Caine Mutiny a lot, it had its problems, but I thought it was a very tight evening of theatre

I love Eddie Korbisch, but his role is so much smaller than Danny Burstein's that I'm surprised he got a nod over him.
Glad Peter Mills was remembered. He's a huge up-and-coming talent.

It appears that seasoned actors received nominations just because they've paid their dues and it is a way of recognizing their commitment to theater (Sutton, Gemignani ... )

I'm so confused that Color Purple isn't up there! Is there some sort of eligibility rule I don't know about?
Cause, I would've told everyone it was the leading contender for best musical this year.

Why Kritzer and not Orfeh? And why Spanger at all? Rup's right, they never get it right. Who's on this panel, oh i forgot, dentists and the like.

The COLOR PURPLE omission is very bazaar. There's something going on there. How could it get zero nominations?

DD,
I'm with ya. For me, the role of Toby just seemed to vanish with some of the cuts made, though Mano was obviously very talented. Whereas I thought Gemignani made a very strong impression in the role. It was a far more menacing take on the Beadle than I'd ever seen. I actually found him scarier than Cerveris.
