It has to be Chita Rivera. It's shocking she has never won. Kristin Chenoweth is my second choice though I wouldn't be surprised if Helen Mirren wins. Would they really pass on the opportunity to reward Chita Rivera this late in her career?

So has it always been the case that shows can be nominated for both their Off-Broadway and Broadway productions? Cause my memory is telling me that it has not.
So was there a rule change? Do they just take things on a case by case basis?
Does this mean Hamilton could win this year and next year?
Weird.

I'm personally between Kristen and Carey Mulligan for my vote. Haven't seen Chita or Kelli yet.

While I wouldn't have put him to win it, I strongly think Ken Watanabe deserved a nomination over Ruthie Ann Miles. She was good but I thought he had a stronger, albeit different performance.

"I think there is a limit to how many Actors from each show can make the list."
Ah, that's good to know. All the same, every performance is still eligible to be nominated in the same broad category of "distinguished performance," which is what I find most interesting

I believe that anybody can join the Drama League for a fee and be able to vote for the awards, and they have no way of knowing if you've seen every production/performance. Essentially, they are kind of meaningless, but the Distinguished Performance award does hold some prestige in the industry.

Tough list. I'd think Boyer or Mirren are giving the better performances of all those listed. Granted Rivera has the bump because of her career, but just based on the performances, I'd say it's Boyer or Mirren.
And I'm so surprised at all the Honeymoon snubs. It's really quite a good score and little show. I don't think production was great, but I think the show itself is better than a lot of musicals.

Very happy to see Punk Rock and Scenes from a Marriage recognized. Both standouts for me this season.

I'd think Chita has it, based on her legendary career (not to mention she's apparently giving a stunning performance in The Visit), but I wouldn't count out Helen Mirren either- not only is she a big star, but she's playing the part she's most identified with in a show where she's the focus of the entire evening. The Audience is basically one big star turn for her incredible skill as an actress, and I wouldn't be surprised if she won this at all.

This is correct. An annual fee grants you membership and the right to vote in the annual awards. You don't receive any kind of comp tickets and no one verifies your attendance at any of the productions.

Many solid contenders.
I wouldn't rule out Lesley Manville for the win (though I'm quite surprised Ghosts didn't score a nomination for outstanding revival).

I think the Drama League's Distinguished Performance Award is the most interesting one in the whole season, but the rest of their categories are utter nonsense. (Way too many nominees, so many ridiculous ones.)

I believe shows may be nominated for both their Off-Broadway and their Broadway productions, unless the show wins for it's Off-Broadway production. It would then be deemed ineligible to win the next year after it has transferred to Broadway.

I love the Distinguished Performance Award, and personally think the best bets are Chita, Kristin, and Dame Helen, with Steven Boyer having an outside chance. But it's hard to predict, and obviously an honor to the winner out of such competition.

Sentiment didn't get Angela Lansbury the award when she was a finalist for Night Music and Blithe Spirit.
