Yeah they missed out on a lot of people who deserved it!

Ugh, if they're just going to be nominating Julia Roberts for these awards just b/c she's Julia Roberts, I think I might get sick...re: drama league nominations announced

How is Mano not on the list?

I too, am shocked (and dismayed) at the omission of Mano from this list. His preformance is, in my opinion, the best in a featured role of the season.

re: drama league nominations announced

So, out of the list of performers, who does everyone think will win performance of the year? I am, obviously, partial to John Lloyd Young. However, there is one name on there that I didn't even think of because the show was on Bway so many months ago, and his performance was amazing, and that is Sir Antony Sher. Primo was absolutely one of the best things that happened to Broadway last year.

re: drama league nominations announced

how did LaChanze (!) and Kelli O'Hara NOT get nods?

do these awards have any pull or influence on the Tony nominations? I hope it doesn't!

At least SWEENEY and PURPLE got Best Production nods!

re: drama league nominations announced

Well, Julia Roberts might win this and the Tony just because she's Julia Roberts doing Broadway.

re: drama league nominations announced

I was kind of surprised by no Michael Ball. Could it be because he didn't do enough performances before he got ill. I thought he received great reviews for his Fosco.

Yay for Maria! I am so happy!
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

re: drama league nominations announced

im glad for maria too
and im sorry- didnt see lachanze's name on the list!
but poor kelli, she deserves it more than some of those other people on that list, no offense...

re: drama league nominations announced

I'm not sure if people missed my previous post -- the Drama League has a rule of no more than 2 performers per show (yes, I know they didn't follow it with Threepenny Opera -- I'm guessing they made an exception because Alan Cumming is hosting).

So here's the interesting question...do people think that Manoel Felciano/Tyne Daly/Kelli O'Hara/etc should have been nominated INSTEAD of those who were? For example, I don't think that Mano deserved a nomination INSTEAD of Michael Cerveris and Patti LuPone -- if I had to only pick 2 performers from that show, I would have picked Michael and Patti, just like the Drama League did. Cynthia Nixon deserves one, but I am not sure whether John Slattery or Tyne Daly deserves the other nomination more.

re: drama league nominations announced

My money would be on Ebersole or LuPone. Those were the two most universally praised performances of the season. Ebersole's reviews were actually even a little better than LuPone's, but who knows what will happen.

I also don't get why Manoel ISN'T on that list. That really is too bad.

They will pick One person out of this group???
Well, I would go with Ebersole, she broke my heart in GG.
Leavel should be there.
is the 2 noms a show a real rule?

re: drama league nominations announced

Well, he said its one of those rules that they go by but its not official...not sure if I believe that. Why wouldn't they just make it official? And I'm not sure who will win out of this group. Although, id probably bet its one of the female performances.

I'm glad Felicia got some praise. She def. does the most with her 10mins. on stage.
