So what do we all think?
Surprised that Feliciano isnt up there.
doodle...I didn't even notice that until you said something. Wow.
How the hell did Manoel not get a nom? And Patti and Michael were the only two from Sweeney? What?!
Was definitely pleasantly surprised to see Carloee in the mix. Surprised Kelli O'Hara didn't get a nomination. Aggravated Patrick Wilson didn't get one. Also happy for Felicia Finley and Stephen Lynch! Surprised Amy Spanger didn't get one though, too.
Im suprised that both Mano and Lauren Molina from SWEENEY TODD didnt get one. Yay for Patti, Michael, and Sutton though!
No Beth Leavel? I found her to be one of the most brilliant performances in the show.

Mano isn't on the list! Shame, shame...
...but Sweeney got nominated, yay! *crosses fingers for it to win*
Not a popular opinion, I'm sure, but I would have like to have seen Nellie McKay.

Well, the Drama Logue is the least important of the major New York theatre awards, so there's no reason to get too caught up by their nominations.
Surprised that Cherry Jones was omitted.
Glad that Cumming, Dale and Lauper were included, but disappointed that Brian Charles Rooney didn't get a nod.
Strange that Sherie Renee Scott got a nod, but Lili Taylor didn't for Landscape of the Body (I thought Taylor was far superior).
Interesting that Julia Roberts and Paul Rudd were remembered but not Brad Cooper (Roberts was an automatic, no matter what they actually thought of her performance -- they're just hoping she'll show up at their luncheon).
Yay for Norm and Renee being recognized for Two Gentlemen of Verona!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't care at all for Nellie McKay. She sang painfully flat for the entire performance I saw her and her acting was amateurish.
I thought Rooney was quite funny...but never did I ever think he was an actual woman (which then didn't warrant the c*ck shot we got...but whatever).
I saw the show last Thursday...and I thought McKay was spellbinding. She was confident in her delivery...she was actually quite funny. And though her voice isn't what you'd call 'beautiful'...or even 'good'...I loved what she brought to the music.

Yep, I thought he acted and sang circles around her.

It looks like every show this season at the Public (including the park) got a nomination (or did I miss one?). Has that ever happened before?

She seemed lost and out of her depth the night I saw her and vocally she was an embarassment (I overheard several people at intermission also commenting on how awful her pitch was). Rooney was strong, dynamic and in control of every aspect of his performance, both verbally and physically (his stage business was dead on). I can't ask for more than that.
For some reason, I thought that there was either an explicit or an understood rule that only 2 performers per show could be nominated, which would explain a lot of the notable omissions (Tyne Daly, Manoel Felciano, Cherry Jones, Kelli O'Hara, Beth Leavel, Bradley Cooper), although I think some would argue with the 2 nominees chosen from each show. However, there are 3 for Threepenny Opera (maybe an exception because Alan Cumming is hosting). I'm surprised Michael Ball isn't on the list, though (Maria Friedman is the only nominee from TWIW).
No big surprises for productions, although no nomination for revival for The Odd Couple.
DD,
I agree about Rooney being self-aware. But I thought it worked...especially juxtaposed to McKay's absolute commitment to Polly. One of the things I found so winning about her performance was her lack of awareness even though everyone else around her was completely aware. I thought it was a choice. Maybe I was wrong!

I don't think Lucy is every supposed to be played as a woman in this production...Though, the people behind me (mind you I was first row) were no sure if Brian was a woman or a man until, well, you know...
I'm not surprised he didn't get a nom...especially not if Manoel didn't even get one.
BUT I am OVERJOYED that Lauper is up there!
I am to whole-heartedly disagree with Margo. I thought Nelli was fantastic...perhaps she improved or was just very nervous that first night. Though, her higher notes are airy.
ETA: While I don't think it will win, I actually think SWIWS is the best of the musicals.
