I deem your dream casts invalid due to your "dream" of having Christy Carlson Romano as "Ariel." But hey - that's my opinion.

Kerry Butler is in talks for the role, anyway.

Oh I agree Kerry does sound like Jodi Benson when she sang "Part of your World" for a radio show. I don't think the show would be compleate without that voice.

Several actresses could be "Ariel." It's not really a unique type needed for the character.

I think Jenn Gambatese would be a fantastic Ariel. Leslie Kritzer could do it but she doesn't have the traditional "beautiful" look to her.

Why not Sam Wright for Sebastian? He does Broadway, he was the OBC Mufasa in The Lion King, and he was Sebastian's voice in the movie. If he's capable, why not?

I just came back from Disney World and I went to the Animal Kingdom and I saw "Tarzan Rocks" and it was a beautiful show...whoi ever plays Tarzan better have muscles cause I don't wanna see a scrawny Tarzan.


At the MGM I saw Voyage of The Little Mermaid and that was a live action stage show and when they did "Under The Sea" they used this new type of puppetry .......it was AMAZING..and so was the Theatre and how they made you think you were under water.

AND btw..I love Kerry Butler but she sounds very little like Jodi. She has the nasal tone that is actually common with Disney princesses (it's true!) but hers is too much in that clip and she sounds a bit like she is hurting her voice when she belts it (on that clip, i repeat). it's a bit scratchy at the top. Jodi has a soprano belt and I believe Kerry still sounds like Audrey and Penny. She has such a unique voice that I'd actually now like to see someone else in the role. But I would still be very happy if Kerry does it...

isn't that girl from Bee and Piaza doing the workshop now though?

Whatyouown, now you're just being ridiculous. Now that I've put a face to the name, Kritzer, you can't possibly think she'd be right for Ariel. And to whomever said they though Foster was too old to play her in the same sentence they mentioned Butler, well, then I can't help you there. These casting threads have always been so over the top bad it never gets boring for me to read them. Thanks for the hearty laugh, I really needed one today.

Laura Bell Bundy is in the workshop of TARZAN as Jane.

Cheyenne Jackson is in the workshop of THE LITTLE MERMAID as Prince Eric.

I hope both of them get the roles when the shows come to Broadway.

I'd like to see Rene Auberjonois back on stage again.

He voiced the French Chef character in the Little Mermaid movie and is probably eager to redeem himself after the Dance of the Vampires experience - although he was very good in the show (which I enjoyed, but that's another thread that no one probably wants to reopen!)

The reason Kerry sounds very nasaly and all in that clip is becasue she had a cold when she went on the show. That's what she said on the show. And I personally would LOVE to see her as Ariel.

Everytime I think of these two shows on Broadway, I think how bad/corny they will be. Then, I remember how innovative Disney has been on Broadway in the past (flying/puppetry), and I realize they will be interesting.

Based on the 'On the Record' cast recording, I'm pulling for Ashley Brown as Ariel - she looks young, and sounds amazing. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they go for an unknown for the leads in Little Mermaid, as tickets sales *definately* won't hinge on a big name in the lead.

Kerry Butler needs to play Ariel. Perhaps it will garner her the Tony nomination she deserved for her portrayal of Penny Pingleton.

As much as the idea of having a man play Ursula intrigues me, I don't think it would work. I don't think it would add anything to the production. The Little Mermaid isn't a straight comedy, such as Hairspray, so I think it would just be a bit distracting, if that is the right word.

Well Sutton Foster could be good as Jane. But I think they want a British actress to play Jane.
