"So the other girls name is Vanessa?????? I, for one, do not think they should split up the role at all. Bernadette could definately pull off a Vanessa!!!!!!"
Wouldn't it be a bit of a stretch to buy that Ariel doesn't realize it's the same person though?

Well, I mean you have the whole heavy make up thing with Ursula, but for the scene she has soonest to her transformation you could have a body double and in that vast amount of time Ursula has she could get out of the fat costume and makeup (which is easier to get out of than get on probably). But then yo uhave Ursula change back again for the battle. So, one actress in both roles kinda wouldn't work.
In repsonse to the "I'm tired of Disney musicals" post, I could never get tired of Beuaty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, or Little Mermaid. Of them all I thought Little Mermaid would have made the best musical. And now that Disney has had experience on Broadway with B& B, Lion King, and Aida they will be able to have a better sense of what works and what doesn't for the stage. And even if a lot of the show doesn't work you will always have the incredible original songs from the movie, which there is no way to butcher.
