I really don't want ANY cast for Tarzan... :/

But there are lots of great suggestions for The Little Mermaid! I like the idea of Kerry Butler or Sutton Foster as Ariel. And, it WOULD be cool if they REALLY made young sexy Ursula's part big enough to be worthy of Sara Ramirez. (I think older Ursula does need to be female.)

Question, though: How will they handle the main character not being able to speak for such a large section of a MUSICAL?

Celia Kennan Bolger is doing Ariel in the next workshop. Kerry Butler did the workshop readings several years ago. As the show isn't slated to actually open for another three years, I doubt either will end up doing the part on Broadway.

Cristy Carlson Romano should never be allowed back on the NY Stage. And I know some idiot is gonna say "Well, she was the original Mary Phagan in Parade blah blah blah." So what? She has no presence, no voice, and looks like she hasn't eaten since Parade...KEEP HER AWAY...KEEP HER AWAY...

Al Dente- clearly you misunderstood when I said she didn't have the right look for the part. She certainly has pipes, and I don't believe you've ever heard her sing. Did you not get what I was saying when I said she didn't have the "traditional" look that princesses are supposed to have?

PhantomMag, the Little Mermaid probably won't be coming to Broadway for quite a while, so let's put off actualy reality casting for later.

Kerry is getting a bit old to play a Disney Princess. Her voice suits over-the-top perfectly, but she doesn't really look the part. Through the powers of ungodly layers of make-up, they might be able to pull it off, but by the time this show is on Broadway, she'll be off to bigger things.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Espinosa. She's played this before, hasn't she?

Loudasthehell---Kerry said in an interview that they were gonna make Ariel's songs (for when she can't speak) the thoughts in her head...which is the obvious decision!

I think Sutton Foster is too tall to be Ariel, but maybe not... I would love to see her do it. And Ashley Brown is a little hefty to be in anything skimpy, she has a gorgeous figure she's just got a ghetto booty.(Which I guess some mermaids might have)

I like the Wayne Brady as Sebastian idea.
Sara Ramirez would make an amazing ursula (I think they could have her play the young and old one).

Probably because Flounder is going to be portrayed by a child actor...they always casy more than one child to play the part and they alternate performances.

I saw no mention of the seagull, Scuttle, is he going to make the transition to the stage?

Also, I just thought of a great reason for a young woman, like Sara, to play Ursula. Ursula turns into a pretty young woman in the movie(and looks a lot like Ariel) and tries to steal Eric and ruin the Ariel. So with a young woman(and thinner), that trasition would be easier and could be played by the same actress......

Why Yuck?

Chip has to be played by a child actor in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Flounder is almost the same age equivalent in the movie, so it's probably going to be played by a child onstage. I see nothing wrong with it.
