Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha
Guido in Nine (If I were a man I would be all over that)
Engineer in Miss Saigon (I agree with Eddie, it is an awesome part.)
Thou giveth fever.

re: Dream roles that can never happen

Yeah, lots of weird gender bending. Like I said, Roger from Rent, Judas from JCS, and John from tick, tick, BOOM! Maybe Billy Bigelow from Carousel, too, but nobody these days knows about him. That's a cool role with lots of singing. Yeah, but I am a guy and those are some roles I would like to play someday.
There is nothing I would like to do more than act.

re: Dream roles that can never happen

Are you saying that I will never play:

Rose in Gypsy
Louise in Gypsy
Tessie in Gypsy
Madame Armfeldt in Night Music
Desiree in Night Music
Joanne in Company
Phyllis Rogers Stone in Follies
or
Mavis Parodus Bryson in The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window?

I can play them if I find somebody to bankroll them....

re: Dream roles that can never happen

I'd LOVE to play Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. But 1) I'm too tall and 2) I don't weigh enuff. I suppose I could use a fat suit, but they height would still be a problem. It would be a blast though, there's so much energy in that show!! Then again, I'd give nething to play any part in Hairspray, lol.

re: Dream roles that can never happen

If I was a man :
Bobby in Company
Coalhouse in Ragtime (would have to change race for that too)
John Wilkes Booth in Assassins

If I was a different race:
Sarah in Ragtime

Lucille Frank in Parade
Dot/Marie in Sunday in the Park with George
Meredith Parker in Bat Boy
Papa Ge in Once on this Island
Lili Vanessi/Catherine in Kiss Me, Kate
Sara Jane Moore in Assassins

Ah, the pains of being a Jewish white 13 year old from Texas. re: Dream roles that can never happen

re: Dream roles that can never happen

The Phantom in POTO (but I COULD be Christine)
Sarah in Ragtime (wrong race)
Charles Guiteau in Assassins (wrong gender)
Enjolras in Les Miz (wrong gender)
Kim in Miss Saigon (wrong race)
Plince! Plince! Nein! T-Rex!!

re: Dream roles that can never happen

Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors. Although a plant has neither a gender or a race, the role is so incredible when performed by an African-American male (ie the wonderfully talented Michael Leon-Wooley). This would be so much fun!

re: Dream roles that can never happen

Bialystock - the Producers (There's just no role for a gal written as humorously)
Thenardier
Mark - Rent
Lumiere - Beauty and the Beast
Ali Hakim - Oklahoma!
Pseudolys/ Hysteriem / Eronious - ..Forum
Morales - Chorus Line (race)
Johanna - Sweeney (Range)
Eliza - My Fair Lady (Range-you do NOT wanna hear this limited alto try and sing soprano 1 stuff!)

I'm a gal though...

re: Dream roles that can never happen

Oh yeah...I realized reading through this thread that Coalhouse is another dream role of mine...but kinda unattainable due to me being a small Jewish guy. Hah...dammit I would even love to be Sarah form Ragtime....but instead I will forever be stuck playing Mother's Younger Brother ( a GREAT role still) and maybe when I am older Tateh.

re: Dream roles that can never happen

Oh man, there are so many.

Emcee in Cabaret (wrong gender)
Charlie Brown in YAGMCB (wrong gender)
Carmen Ghia in The Producers (wrong gender)
Mistoffelees in CATS (wrong gender, and no way will I ever dance like that)

I don't know if I can name all the roles...I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

...I should just get a sex change.

re: Dream roles that can never happen

re: Dream roles that can never happen

this is fun!
I'd like to think I'd be perfect for :
Velma/MAMMA/Mary Sunshine - CHICAGO (I'd be the hispanic/physically fit Mary Sunshine!)
Girl on the Swing/Girl in the Yellow Dress- CONTACT
Cassie/Morales/Sheila/Mike/Paul - A CHORUS LINE(Only Paul and Mike would work in my favor here)
Dorthy Brock/Peggy Sawyer - 42ND STREET
Annie Oakley - ANNIE GET YOUR GUN
Maria - WEST SIDE STORY
Mimi/Angel - RENT (Angel,YEA!)
Donna Sheridan/Tonya - MAMMA MIA!
Edna - HAIRSPRAY (I'd be again ~ Similar to mary sunshine, Physically fit/Hispanic Edna)

Ok that's enough! I'm a gay male and I'll just keep dreaming on! LOL
